Showing off this excellent piece I commissioned from @sarkastiklover.bsky.social! Tysm you rock! ❤️

Noah & his mom Cassie from #Tenement, my dystopian mystery about people living in an infinite building.

"Things don't have to be like this. There could be other ways. There could be other worlds."
Digital illustration by @sarkastiklover.bsky.social of Noah Walker, a young man with medium-dark skin, very short brown hair, and a loose-fitting beige shirt standing in a long narrow corridor with yellow/brown wallpaper with a rose pattern near the base, wooden floors, & a naked lightbulb hanging from a slightly cracked ceiling. He is standing back-to-back with his mom Cassie, a woman with large curly brown hair, who is looking back over her shoulder fearfully toward him. Diagonal cross-sections separate the two, with Noah in the present & colored, while Cassie is in the past & black and white. In Noah's left hand he holds the Nwissy (a compass).

Aww this is such a great answer! Hell yes, more good people! ❤️

It's a trait that all my protagonists share: their humanity. Even though they're not all human. 😅

Beneath all the bluster and banter, they deeply care for each other, and for their city. They're good people. We need good people.

Also, I think they're quite funny. 😁

This is such a great question. What a perfect way to love on our characters!

Rushak has a few in my eyes, the most endearing being that he’s in so much pain yet works so hard (not always successfully) to balance this against that in his mind to treat everyone and everything 🧵1/?

Virgil is a contradiction. He is prideful but also hates himself.

But that pride is not the flaw to be overcome, it's *why* he's the hero.

If you truly are the best, you have a responsibility.

If bad things happen it's *his* fault because he should have stopped it.

#PlotTober 8

The story is going to start off with Annie finding out that Miles cheated on Nadia (her bestie), so the goal of destroying him is entirely new. Plus, Annie might have a few personal reasons why this goal will be more difficult for her to achieve than she wants to believe.

#PlotTober - a WIP plotting game by @gunsmile.bsky.social

8. What are some potential reasons the main character(s) haven't, couldn't, and/or can't pursue these goals yet? Consider other characters, backstory events, circumstances, environmental factors, etc.

Remember: Use the #PlotTober hashtag, engage with others, and have fun!

This was a great prompt today, Charlie 😊

No, ramble away! I'm trying to (eventually) do something similar with my Snow Queen adaptation, where the whole central story is about a girl trying to save the boy who is her best friend, & it's all about their love for each other, but it's not romantic. Friendship love can be super powerful!

#AwesomeCharacters #SayaAshrah For Ashrah, I'd say her most "endearing" trait is her childish curiosity and fascination with certain things. We don't get to see this a lot in EF, but it's there, and those moments make me smile.

Her most "compelling" trait, though, I think is her unyielding (1/3)

Whilst he’s rare to like people, Cailo is utterly loyal to his friends and secretly admires how positive I’anthal is. Alitzah is the ‘you can swim’ (chucks person into deep end) mentality that can get the best out of others and Oula has a practical solution for everything.
Grio can make a sack sexy.

As much as I love it when Daisuke and Obito are being clever or devious or outright bullies (😅), I think it's their banter with each other and their opposites attract vibes (even though they're very alike lol)

Separately, it's Daisuke’s street tough attitude and Obito's no-nonsense-perma-exhaustion

Lex has a big heart. She's genuinely compassionate and good. Despite her flaws, she has well-meaning intentions.

Daemrin lives every day like it's his last. He feels everything cranked up to 11.

Once you get past Owen's lies, Kenzie's apathy, Wesley's passivity, and absolutely everything about Rowan Donovan, they all 4 have bright, shining moments of earnestness, sincerity and vulnerability that humiliate me, their author, which nourishes the sadistic voyeurism inherent to all readers.

I like Wren because she's snarky, pessimistic, and is always looking for an angle but is also a big softy and has baggage and trust issues but will absolutely shank someone to protect like, 3 people she cares about. Is any of that endearing? I dunno.

Can I say, I love the fact that you made them platonic friends instead of love interests? We need more close M/F friendships that don't turn into romance in fiction!

(Not that I don't very much enjoy romance too, obviously, but y'know... variety!)

I love this question!

I’ve tried multiple angles to make Alexander endearing. I’m interested in what readers think… But IMO chief is his earnestness. Even in selfishness and wrath, he’s brilliantly genuine in a cynical age.

Though *I* like him for his vanity, arrogance, and stubbornness, lmao. 🤣

From the time Baron Aleton stopped by just to make sure everyone was properly celebrating the birth of the newborn princess... and to tell Shallot that there would be an execution in the summer.
Shallot performed a short, perfunctory bow. It wasn’t strictly necessary for her to salute a low-ranked noble, but she didn’t want to make her situation any worse than it already was.
“Everything is fine here, Your Lordship. We’re all so happy about the birth of our new princess.” Shallot hoped her voice didn’t sound too sarcastic.
“Very good. Yes, may Her Brilliance live long and well. Mm, not like those scoundrels in the dungeon. Anyway, I came here to let you know we are planning an execution this summer. I’ll send messengers tomorrow to spread the news. Would you care to host the final meal for the condemned?”
“It would be an honor, Your Lordship.”
“Mm, perfect, that’s that squared away. And, ah, expect plenty of guests at your inn.” Lord Velderash scratched at his beard.
“I shall prepare accordingly.” Shallot from the Good Thyme Inn books. She is a tall, buff nonhuman woman with purple fur and extraordinarily long arms. She is dressed in a white shirt, black pants, and with suspenders and bow tie. She is carrying her ledger book

Aww!! Bird pic??? 😃

I don't have a pet bird, but my personality is definitely a lot closer to Kena's than Mireia's. I had to do a few rewrites because I was trying to write Mireia too much like me instead of letting her be her bold, outspoken self ❤️
