Minneapolis and Saint Paul have basically mobilized into a war economy of mutual aid and non-violent defense. I’ve never seen anything like it, even during Covid. People who barely vote are guarding their schools from ICE and doing the shopping for neighbors in hiding.
This is so smart. I’m so impressed with all the different ways you’re helping your neighbors.

contempt for rule of law is core to the whole operation
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said Sunday that a judge’s order limiting the force federal law enforcement officers can use against demonstrators and observers “didn’t change anything” for how agents operate during ongoing immigration enforcement in the Twin Cities.

Extraordinary way to present two sides that is unintentionally revealing: “Americans believe this. Republicans believe that.”
Bari Weiss is now infecting the headline writing. Note when a large majority of Americans tells the CBS pollster that they consider the protesters in Minneapolis to be well justified, she goes with only what Republicans—a dwindling number to start with—think.

the ballgame is the abolition of DHS. by comparison to 2020, we got Chauvin and American policing got away almosy unscathed.
the dooming is just entirely out of step with reality. no, we're not going to get Ross arrested this year. that's not the ballgame.

CONFIRMED:

Earlier today Don Lemon reported a protest at Cities Church in St. Paul, MN where they said pastor David Easterwood is Acting Director of the ICE Field Office.

They were 100% right.

I know in my heart that the Siege of Minneapolis will go down as one of the biggest political blunders/grossest abuses of federal power in American history. Just a matter how long that consensus takes. Next week? Next year? Next decade?

Below are the opening paragraphs, but most of it is behind a paywall.

Shouldn’t the NY Times headline note that this new policy breaks the law?

the thing about chasing what you think is public opinion is that if and when things turn you will have made a bunch of statements and taken a bunch of stances that you’ll have to disavow. probably a better strategy just to say what you actually believe and stand by it. anyway, this guy sucks.

Sesame Street really tells the story of America:

- Created for PBS to educate young (especially Black!) children
- Becomes a beloved institution cherished by the entire country
- Gets privatized and kicked to premium cable due to budget cuts
- Unionization leads to mass layoffs

What a country!
