750,000 face uncertain back pay
5m
The Trump administration warned on Tuesday in an OMB memo that about 750,000 furloughed U.S. federal workers may not receive back pay during the government shutdown.
This should come as no surprise: Trump and his businesses have been accused of stiffing hundreds of their own workers out of pay over the years.

That bill was signed into law by Donald Trump.
Workers will be paid.
This chaos is a distraction from Trump's failure to secure a deal to lower health care costs.

There’s a 2019 law that guarantees it, but Trump is once again trying to break the law.
You don’t get to punish people for doing their jobs just because you’re failing at yours.
Federal workers: we don’t have to work for no pay
This is illegal and cruel. Federal workers are entitled to back pay by law after a shutdown - a law Trump himself signed in 2019.

This is clearly against the law, which guarantees furloughed federal employees back pay for the duration of a government shutdown.
