"The ones that are getting out are coming home to no home," Watson said.
According to her, after the raid occurred, building management stole or threw out residents belongings, including visas and important documents.

ICIRR is still trying to determine the identities of all the people detained in the raid. Castro said that the organization usually can do that by following up with family members or loved ones. "In this instance, there was nobody left to work with," she said. The only detainee name they're sure of is that of a person who passed their Venezuelan passport to a neighbor as they were being taken away.

It’s day seven of the government shutdown. For an entire week now, Republicans have refused to reach a bipartisan agreement to fund our government and protect health care for American citizens. They’re failing their own constituents.

Differential privacy. Look it up online for more depth. Basically adding noise to the data to protect individuals’ responses to the census.
electproject.bsky.social
Sometimes that data is censored for at-risk people like judges, law enforcement, and victims of domestic abuse. Depends on the state
electproject.bsky.social
Getting him to scale back the added noise was a victory, of sorts

I convinced the Census Bureau not to apply the privacy formal to the state level counts for apportionment because I convinced them that would be a constitutional violation. So no states were inappropriately awarded congressional districts because of the privacy formula
electproject.bsky.social
I served on the National Academy of Sciences advisory committee to the Census Bureau on the privacy formula and the biggest concern was it resulted in undercounting communities of color — and it was the Biden administration that implemented it for the 2021 data release

This makes me a little hopeful (and I do mean a little, like, not much) that what DHS is doing with voter files isn't the same quality of DOGE's claims of 150 year-old people receiving social security
electproject.bsky.social
I asked Commission Palmer if DHS and ICE had reached out to the EAC to assist with the analysis of voter files they've been collecting. He said they had not, but it was his understanding that they had reached out to the National Association of Secretaries of State for assistance
