"Some say that medical societies must remain apolitical. […] The principle of medical neutrality, grounded in international humanitarian law, does not mean indifference; it obliges us to condemn any erosion of this norm as a threat to both care and ethics."

How many trillions of dollars have been invested into this technology so far?
Google search for "austria hungary in space"

Google excitedly tells you about the 1889 orbital flight, and that by 1908 there was a Mars research output with 30 people.

Similar misinformation about EAT-Lancet on top of the recommendations timeline on X. No surprises there, I guess.

Slutligen: Julians bok och andra texter är verkligen att rekommendera. Få fångar vår tid av militarisering, klimatkris och kampen för en bättre värld, bättre än han.

“Year after year, land and environmental defenders—those protecting our forests, rivers, and lands across the world—continue to be met with unspeakable violence.”

146 environmental and land defenders were murdered or disappeared in 2024
The political killings you don’t hear about
Across the globe, standing up for the planet can be a death sentence—and the perpetrators are almost never held accountable.

🚨New article🚨 Why has the promise of universal ownership been broken, as @benbraun.bsky.social has suggested?

Our argument: because the Big Three are hardly universal. They mainly invest in those that can insulate themselves from environmental harm - big tech & financials in the Global North.

Wow, who would have guessed this could happen...

"A confusing contradiction is unfolding in companies embracing generative AI tools: [...] Employees are using AI tools to create low-effort, passable looking work that ends up creating more work for their coworkers."

AI-Generated “Workslop” Is Destroying Productivity
Despite a surge in generative AI use across workplaces, most companies are seeing little measurable ROI. One possible reason is because AI tools are being used to produce “workslop”—content that appea...

The Trump administration’s attacks on national parks continue

This time, they’ve removed both physical signs and website mentions describing how climate change is damaging the parks

Because if you remove the info, famously, the problem goes away

National parks remove signs about climate, slavery and Japanese detention
The removals come after President Donald Trump issued an executive order in March seeking to remove “improper partisan ideology” from federal institutions.

Browsing through the Washington Post news has become a dystopian experience, a never ending flow of updates on US authoritarianism, science denialism, and evidence of small pockets of resistance.

📣My analytical op-ed in @ForeignPolicy on AI-powered information warfare. Is the window for combating AI-driven propaganda is closing? Local, open-weight models let State, non-state and micro-operators run industrial-scale influence ops with no central points. foreignpolicy.com/2025/09/18/a...

Here’s the lawsuit that Trump filed against the NY Times. While there are allegations of defamation - it is a full frontal attack on free speech. It almost reads like a parody. /1

Donald Trump sues the New York Times (and Susanne Craig, Russ Buettner, and Michael S. Schmidt) for defamation, and the complaint for some reason begins thus: storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...
NATURE OF THE ACTION
On November 5, 2024, President Trump won the 2024 Presidential
Election over Vice President Kamala Harris in historic fashion, emerging victorious
in both the Electoral College and the popular vote, and securing a resounding
mandate from the American people. President Trump trounced Harris with 312
electoral votes and a sweep of all seven "battleground" states. This victory was
remarkable for many historic reasons, including because President Trump had to overcome persistent election interference from the legacy media, led most notoriously by the New York Times.
