So according to SCOTUS it would seem that states have the right to ban gender affirmative care that professional organizations support but do not have the right to ban conversion therapy that professional organizations condemn. Professional expertise literally has no legitimacy anymore.

Greta Thunberg speaks to the press after being released from illegal detainment in Israel: "I could talk for a very, very long time about our mistreatment and abuses in our imprisonment. Trust me, but that is not the story.”

JBLAC fosters a transdisciplinary conversation on Black language & culture through a global, diasporic lens.

What this case shows is that for many immigrants a pathway to legalization is essentially impossible providing incentives to lie as a survival strategy. These lies can then take on a life of their own. A more sensible immigration policy could have prevented this.

A foundational assumption of the capitalist logic shaping US social policy is that something needs to be a problem to justify people getting support. This means human services professionals have to pathologize their clients. Just imagine if we lived in a world where people just got what they needed.

This is a great jumping-off point for something that I think a lot of people don't understand when we talk about adding certain things to the DSM or ICD.
A post from Ashley Annestedt, LCSW reading "Therapists, help me out. What's the ICD code for: Nothing is clinically 'wrong,' patient is experiencing basic human emotions due to racism, sexism, homophobia, removal of rights, and a pandemic?"

Taking Trump’s loyalty oath would be a profound betrayal of students, staff, faculty, the public, higher education, & our shared democracy. We urge schools not to capitulate & not to negotiate but to unite now in defense of democracy and higher ed.

The strongest allies are not always in your face. Often they are quietly working behind the scenes with little to no recognition.

The test of a true ally is not only what people say and do when everybody is looking but also what they say and do with few people looking.

I do think national media need to be focusing more on what ICE is doing, especially in Chicago, where people are being dragged from their beds. I'm not downplaying the National Guard deployments, but ICE is actively terrorizing communities. That's the spear tip of fascism right now.

Some parents are letting their kids talk to ChatGPT in the guise of characters. Some are using it to tell bedtime stories or create coloring books.

"My son thinks ChatGPT is the coolest train loving person in the world. The bar is set so high now I am never going to be able to compete with that.”
‘My son genuinely believed it was real’: Parents are letting little kids play with AI. Are they wrong?
Some believe AI can spark their child’s imagination through personalized stories and generative images. Scientists are wary of its affect on creativity

Agreed both because it serves to normalize shit that shouldn’t be normalized and fails to invite people into the struggle who are genuinely surprised by the shit.

Please don't ask me if I am surprised when I am angry about shit. It's not helpful, and it's really annoying.

The US Holocaust museum argues that “what distinguishes a concentration camp from a prison... is that it functions outside of the judicial system. The prisoners are not indicted or convicted of any crime by judicial process.” 🗃️

They truly believe that if they can control the media, education, science, health, and the military, they'll control it all and stamp out dissent.

If they read US history, they'd know we've been here before... and it led to mass movements and social change that shook this country and the world.
