I fear if things don’t change right now, this image is going to come back to haunt us
Laura Rodriguez, on Twitter:

A federal agent points a weapon at a woman who was recording them.

Jess, a U.S. citizen and member of a neighborhood patrol team that documents and shares ICE activity across the city, was filming when the incident occurred earlier today in the Berwyn area.

Horrible, horrible images from Portland:

It was a beautiful Sunday in Portland. Farmer’s markets, the Portland Marathon, peaceful protests, and some views of Mt. Hood. This city is vibrant, peaceful, and resilient. We do not need a federal occupation, and we sure as hell don’t want one.

Wow. That company has been around for almost two centuries. My heart breaks for the hundreds of people out of jobs.

Baker & Taylor appears to be shutting down. A post on the r/libraries subreddit from an employee of B&T breaks the news and there appear to be other employees in the comments confirming the situation.

Look at how they characterize the purveyors of this message lol.

Mitch’s post highlights a political front group funded by wealthy people & the Oregonian abstracts it into “Portlanders”

The funniest thing in the world is someone posting something egregiously fake followed by “let that sink in.”
Debra Messing: @emmabenson92 I have nothing against Socialism, don't know where you got that. I voted against M because he celebrated 9/11.
Let that sink in. I love my country. My reasoning is not Islamophobia. I I've chosen to live in the most beautifully diverse city in the world.

omg, yeah, that would be fairly horrifying!

Doing a deep dive into hives that also bleed is not something I ever thought I'd need to do. And it's amazing that in spite of the fact that I'm under the care of three specialists (immunologist, rheumatologist, & dermatologist) for this, I still mainly have to rely on myself for finding answers.

Waking up to some careless parachute journalism from the NYT. Really frustrating that @kellen.bsky.social chooses to write that "some top filers" have left Portland due to the Preschool for All tax but neglects to mention that the number of overall filers went up by many thousands in that period.+

Remember the episode of West Wing where the administration does some horse-trading to get a liberal woman appointed to the Supreme Court + in exchange also appoint an arch conservative, + it turns out the 2 are friends + bond over the rule of law. Should have won a Hugo for best short-form sci-fi

This book chapter is a great case study of what good, values-driven management looks like. It sometimes involves making hard choices that may be unpopular with stakeholders and higher-ups but that will protect the long-term well-being of your reports. Well done Amanda!

My book chapter, Don't Do More With Less: Sustainable Work as a Management Value, has arrived! This chapter explores my first years as a manager and how I did my best to embrace slow librarianship, push back on overcommitment and vocational awe, and make my department and its work sustainable. 📚📜

Go, Jane, go! She's rounded up hundreds of Hollywood figures to revive the First Amendment organization her father championed. Fonda, in her late eighties, is in her prime as a climate champion and a powerful voice for justice.

If any other president in all of history said the military should use American cities as a training ground he would be removed from office that same day. The hardest thing to tolerate in all this is how relatively silent elected democrats are. It’s ridiculous.

good lord, dick durbin wants democrats to give up their only remaining leverage this year for an *informal commitment* from republicans. www.semafor.com/article/09/2...
For instance, some Democrats indicated they could be open to funding the government with simply a commitment from Thune to extend health care subsidies in the coming days.
"It would be a real mark of progress. I hope that's considered by him. That's progress, as far as I'm concerned; whether it's enough, I can't say," said Senate Minority Whip Dick Durbin, D-II. "If we're not sitting down talking about ending this responsibility and helping people deal with health care, it's going to be a rocky road."

After that everyone must have thought, "he's the perfect relief pitcher for the Mets who have a long history of impressively disappointing relief pitchers who choke when they're needed most!"

Part of a hospital group, and I'd be more ok with it if she even bothered to try to be helpful or explain anything to me. I don't think we have a rheumatology practice around here that isn't part of a hospital group, so the choices are limited. I asked my primary for a referral to a different group.

I would, but I can promise you, she will literally charge me AGAIN!!! (Ask me how I know).
