#12Tone
one of my goals at some point in my life is to do a 12tone style breakdown on why i think rolling girl by wowaka is actually a perfect song.

i've done a bunch of transcription in my life and have taken like 2 years of college level music theory maybe i can pull it off.
my serious answer is that a song like wowaka's Rolling Girl contains within it such a supermassive essence of pain and perseverance and teenage girl emotionality (the most powerful force in the universe) that i don't think its possible for me to talk objectively about it

I will occasionally go on a 12tone binge. I understand almost none of it, but it's engaging nonetheless.

Another favourite #MusicTheory #YouTuber of mine is 12tone, who not only takes pop songs apart expertly but also illustrates each concept and notates the crucial parts on music theory paper throughout. This latest video on 99 Luftballons is incredible. youtu.be/EgtpCJSnUbc?... #Nena #99Luftballons

12tone had previously posted about how the internet's walled gardens are bad, too.

Unless you build an audience off the back of a free service, then monetize that with ads/sponsors, until you're in a position to join Nebula & shut away some of your work behind its paywall. That walled garden is OK.

Precisely. A link's domain is part of its provenance.

If you have direct links, the URL instantly tells you if it's a newspaper, uni, corporation, blog etc.

Uh oh, 12tone blocked me for... uh... just saying that shortened links aren't as good as direct links?

OK, cool cool cool. Good talk, 12.

noice. Found Gord's Gold in a #FraserValleyBC thriftstore and listened to it (as you suggested to 12Tone on podcast a while ago) ... so I used a tune on my viddy. My VIArail trips have been great! www.facebook.com/reel/2631654...

I think I'm supposed to tell you that Nebula has free trials now and you can sign up for one at go.nebula.tv/12tone if you want. I dunno. Live your life.

12Tone Breaks Down Rage Against the Machine’s “Testify” and the Purposeful Power of Musical Dissonance - That Eric Alper
In his latest video, 12Tone’s Cory Arnold unpacks the intricate layers of Rage Against the Machine’s “Testify,” revealing how musical dissonance mirrors internal and societal conflict. He explores how every element—from guitars to vocals—creates tension between despair and defiance. For Arnold, the band’s fury isn’t nihilistic, but a mature form of hope worth listening to.
