The 5 points that Schumer lists in the Bulwark article that Bluesky got upset about is pretty much a direct recitation of what everyone loved about Mamdani's campaign.

It really comes down to a cult of personality.

And everyone thinks they want screamy, but that's not at all Mamdani (or Lander).

Bloomberg's article that broke the tanker news said it was an unflagged vessel (which would be legal to interdict AFAIK).

NYT is adding some detail. It reportedly has a false flag (in the maritime sense).

The first strikes are clearly unlawful, but there are all kinds of reasons why that's quicksand.

So, I don't mind that dems chose to pounce on the second strike. Literally textbook from the DoD manual. No ambiguity at all.
The Duty to Refuse Unlawful Orders From the perspective of those receiving them, unlawful orders raise two issues. The first is whether there is a duty to refuse them. The United States clearly imposes such a duty. In particular, the Department of Defense’s Law of War Manual (2023) emphasizes the obligation, giving, as a paradigmatic example, an order to kill shipwrecked persons. "18.3.2.1 Clearly Illegal Orders to Commit Law of War Violations. The requirement to refuse to comply with orders to commit law of war violations applies to orders to perform conduct that is clearly illegal or orders that the subordinate knows, in fact, are illegal. For example, orders to fire upon the shipwrecked would be clearly illegal."

So a connection between two nodes may not be direct communication between the nodes, right?

E.g. If an email from Dershowitz to Epstein mentions (random example) AOIC, there would be a connection from Dersh to Epstein and a connection from Dersh to AOC. Is that correct?

I guess in the sense that the party(s) don't really have any power anymore. We rejected smoke filled rooms and this is what we get. I only take issue with the term "elite" because it implies an organized cabal instead of just headless orgs.

The thing is that the party doesn't really have any power. That was a conscious choice among voters (of both parties) starting in the 80s. It was discussed a LOT. We're at the whims of the commentariat.

This is exactly how Trump came to be the nominee in 2016.
