Phew! Nile Rodgers & CHIC's busy summer just keeps getting busier.

With LOADS of shows in the diary, they'll be bringing the party vibes to venues across the UK between June and August, and have just added a Haywards Heath stop to the run!

there's specifically this video i watched in the oughts of a clip of germans Starparade (i'm pretty sure) of the announcer introducing Chic's Dance, Dance, Dance with 'Und here comes another hot one!' and I cannot find it. Its like it never existed

The very first record I ever bought with my own money was Chic's Le Freak.

So yes, it was pretty glorious, my dude.
I had to realize when people talk bad about disco, they talking about gentrified white washed disco. Cus Black disco?? I never wished I was alive for an era of music so bad

Have just seen that you live there, Scott !!
My husband and were there many years ago when following Plácido Domingo around Europe, for we'd learned he'd perform Tosca (in a new modern version). Happily he didn't like the version, and we saw/heard him sing La Bohème, which was Chic's favourite !

Vinyl - Day 311
“It’s About Time” Chic (2018)

Chic’s comeback glistens but rarely grooves. Overstuffed production smothers their natural swing, leaving many tracks cluttered and flustered.“Boogie All Night” and “Till the World Falls Down” shine, but the rest is mid and flat for Nile Rodgers .

As global meetings pick up in 2026, it’s worth asking early: who’s in the room? If CHWs are part of the conversation, their voices should be too.

CHIC’s CHW Speaker Bureau helps organizers include CHWs as speakers and contributors.

The 12 inch of CHIC’s Dance Dance Dance was recorded so loud it challenged all but the biggest Disco sound system. A few reported blowing out speakers the first time they played it. Thanks Bob Clearmountain. #AT40

Michele Richard — Je Veux T'Aimer (1979). Digging deep for that French Canadian — Quebecois! — cover of Chic's disco hit I Want Your Love. #vinyl

I loved Chic's brand of humour when growing up.

Nothing about CHWs without CHWs.

Benard Aketch Otieno, Lead CHW from Migori County, Kenya, joins CHIC’s Advisory Board—bringing the perspective needed to make professional CHWs the norm, not the exception.

I never realised Chic's double entendre. Makes me respect Rodgers & Edwards a lot more.

So am I— but we also have examples like Chic’s “Le Freak” and Missy Elliott’s “Getcha’ Freak On” (e.g.), so I can see that the children could have gotten to that usage… I don’t CARE for it, but I get it!

Correction: saw Bernie Worrell with Talking Heads in 1980 and 1983. I also saw TH in 1982, but at that gig CHIC's Raymond Jones was the keyboard player. #AT40

@halsparks.com an idea I texted to Andrea & Chic. What if you did a guest lecture on podcasting to one of Chic's classes? Do it by Zoom, or better yet; a special Hal Sparks broadcast with her classroom in the camera & you lecture & get questions asked? Can't be political, but just behind tricks.Kurt

@halsparks.com great show w/ @chiccanfora.bsky.social today. That snafu at the end of the show was her daughter's vibration plate during her exercise session. The show went through the exercise plate and left Chic's computer. www.tiktok.com/t/ZTh6475qU/

I'm so glad that kexp has an app + a streaming archive where you can listen to a show for up to 2 weeks after it aired. Reverend Dollars is one of my FAVORITE DJs; they put historical notes & links w/songs. New Year's day was FUN; Chic's 'Good Times' is one of my top 10 disco songs. The Rev's notes:

TIL: Modjo's Lady Hear Me Tonight (2000) is based on Chic's Soup For One (1982)

Just putting that here for you. :-)

today on IHTOV:

@muleskinnerpress.net write about a copy of chic's "risque" and trying to figure out where got it from. it's about the objects in our lives and their place in the world. ihavethatonvinyl.com/essays/chics...
Chic's "Risque"
That only made the question of where I got it more curious, because most of my education in 60s-70s black radio staples have come from them. There was the roommate who gave me their copies of Let’s St...

"Are you straight or bi?" In Chic's Good Times.

I'm still not totally convinced that's wrong.

Big questions about leadership, asked by two very curious interviewers.

CHIC’s Carolyne Faith talks about the proCHW movement, collective advocacy, and why community health workers must be present wherever decisions about their work are made.
