I grew up Protestant and used to cantor for a Catholic church, and the only part that seemed off to me was the Catholic congregation actually singing the hymns…

The church was originally Wallacetown Chapel of Ease but renamed Trinity Parish Church in the 1980s, following a union with St Matthew’s Church and Baxter Park. In 2023, the congregation united with Stobswell Church.

I think the lack of squabbles and power plays between the congregation is what let down Wake Up Dead Man. I wanted more push and pull from that incredible cast.

Though as ever Josh, my love. Also appreciated the several shots of Daryl McCormack’s long thighs.

Bondi Beach is proof that the tide of antisemitism never recedes: It is already clear this was not an arbitrary attack on Australian citizens. It was a lethal assault on Jews for being Jewish archive.ph/uc4I7 By Oliver Kamm #antisemitism

@davidfrenchjag.bsky.social Thanks for your excellent article “What Happens if You Refuse to Recognize That We Are in a Death Spiral?”
I’m a PCUSA pastor & am interested in learning where you landed after leaving your PCA congregation.

How to protect your synagogue in the USA as a rabbi:
* Second Amendment exists. Use it. If you believe your congregation is made of fundamentally good people, you trust them with weapons.
* Put up conspicuous signs disavowing Israel’s horrid conduct
* Add cameras and metal detectors

You expect evangelical leaders to comment on sex gadgets!? They might lecture their congregation about it. But no way they are talking about a sex offender. They're letting Trump take the bullet for that.

we don't often get taken inside a congregation in media, at least not a mainstream one, and I think doing so is a beautiful way to do the narrative setup Stephen King is always shooting for with his domes/mists/etc; what these people have in common is literally nothing but some expression of faith

The visible Church of Christ is a congregation of faithful men, in which the pure Word of God is preached, and the Sacraments be duly ministered according to Christ's ordinance,

If my kids continue to be part of the church, it will be in part due to our church demonstrating their love for them as individuals.

Today that was, between the end of the music program and the benediction, the pastor invited the congregation to my youngest's band concert
If you would like to hear the piece, I have linked our service below. I think it should start right before we play, but if not, go to 54:20.

Feeling really proud to have voted in this mission and vision today at First Unitarian Church of LA.

Not all of it. Just enough to plug the pipes. Then the organist needs to play HARD to build up pressure and send the offal raining down on the congregation.

It’s the little things that make live music fun.

We had almost all music at church today.
It was really lovely.
We have a very small congregation.
But their a bunch of nice people.

Sometimes the Ohio Statehouse resembles a church with a fervent congregation, their arms to the ceiling, tears streaming down their faces. They form a powerful lobbying force for public funding of Christian schools.

Ok, not Christian any more and haven't been for a long time now but I'm pretty sure the whole "church makes AI so congregation members can talk to [discount robot] Jesus" is a violation of several commandments and also almost beat for beat what the Serpent did in Genesis

December 15, 2025 at 12:35 AM
wait, I saw this recently at a diocesan anniversary concert and I was CONFUSED

(and laughing, like you, because the congregation didn't stand for a Black Church hymn that clearly is meant to be expressive and involve moving and clapping.) But Handel? Like clockwork they all stood up

And is a clever choice to do that in a Catholic congregation rather than the more obvious one of evangelical prosperity doctrine type ones as the line is more blurred about motivation.

The failure to address social concerns has contributed to a decline in religious affiliation and influence, with many people, particularly younger generations and people of color, leaving these institutions when they see a disconnect between the gospel and the actions of the congregation.

It was a Chabad group…..ultra conservative, rabid zionists, that actively support Israeli crimes against humanity, and actively finance and provide members of their “congregation “ to go to Israeli and kill as part of the IDF…..that is what the fuck it has to do with Israel….sorry
