It's be like asking Grok to list the 10 prominent researchers working on the subject of evolutionary theory, and getting a list of creationists back that also includes Richard Dawkins. I think the simple explanation there would be that creationist publications love addressing Richard Dawkins.

Oh, creationists also loved Piltdown Man. like, LOVED it. They had this entire narrative built up about how the fact a paleontological hoax persisted for decades meant You Can't Trust Any of It, So We Win.

Steve.

1) It was never universally accepted. Ever. Many considered it a hoax from day 1.

I love these simple memes. I think they're a good way of making people see how ridiculous it really is.

You ever just see a piece of graphic design that just sand blasts your mind into the depths of despair?

The creationists are holding all of us hostage.

📌 Oklahoma’s shift toward conservatism and Christianity in public schools has come amid abysmal test scores and high dropout rates.

Years ago, on my blog, I discussed how people deep in the Christian right (e.g., creationists, anti-abortion people etc.) typically leave only after a very personal betrayal or threat that borders on the existential. In this case, it had to do with his wife's reproductive healthcare. 1/2

Great RadioLab interview with Ella al-Shamahi, about her journey from religious anti-evolutionism into evolutionary biology. New perspective but also familiar if you (like me) grew up among Christian creationists; really moving on what faith, even "denialist" faith, means to people

When my dad was at Cambridge (UK version) in the 70s pretty much all the Creationists were natural science students, which suggested a particular approach to the texts.

Channel rec: Gutsick Gibbon.

A PhD student in Bio Anthropology w/a Masters of Research in Primate Biology, she enjoys discussing, in great detail, the latest research on human origins. And also, gleefully disassembling creationists/shitting on bad popsci reporting.

New Atheism was largely built on arguing with Young-Earth Creationists, which is incredibly easy to do because Young-Earth Creationistm is an incredibly easy idea to debunk, but then they tried to apply those same tactics to everything they see as "irrational," which was easily co-opted by fascists.

Need a term for believers of the frontier myth and its derivative, American exceptionalism. There's lost causers, creationists, atlantis hunters, 9/11 truthers, etc. but none for the most pervasive & destructive mythology? Here's my episode on it: youtu.be/F4Ohe9FU8Qo

I looked into it. Apparently Chomsky's always been skeptical of--or at least doesn't find much evidence for-- the evolution of language. (He thinks language is innate in humans but not other animals.)
So I think creationists jump on that.

Exactly like how creationists are almost never biologists.
Despite @waterstones.bsky.social offensive and ridiculous framing, neither Kathleen Stock, Helen Joyce or Victoria Smith are scholars of 'gender studies' or feminism.

They are a philosopher, mathematician and provocateur respectively.

Lots of racists and then some ancient aliens & alternate histories the Japanese were doing centuries of precolumbian trade w/PNW peoples and people who don’t think nukes exist/act like nukes are magic.

I mean the overlap of creationists and bizarre alternate histories with creationists is not zero

US Creationists will no doubt be gripped by the spectacle of "Grab them by the pussy" enacting the supposed end of a "3000 year old" war in Palestine and the 'defeat' of a religion that didn't even exist then. King Con signals a biblical theme park to erase all history other than US colonialism.

For those not familiar with the DUPs choice as Education Minister....

Paul Givan has a record of opposing sex education, LGBT rights and even putting forward a formal proposal arguing for creationism to be taught in schools as an alternative to evolution.

Yep. Teaching creationism in Schools.

There are fine religious lessons from a St. Helens experience, if you believe so.

You can find something about land/self-renewal or how living through that experience renewed your faith. That's okay. You do you.

When creationists employ bad-faith interpretations of science, though, it's just odd.
