LFC recruitment: why did they buy both Ekitike and Isak when they are identical profiles? scoutedftbl.com/hugo-ekitike...
Is Hugo Ekitiké an Alexander Isak regen?
Everyone, including us, keeps saying the Frenchman is a mini version of the Swede - let’s use data to figure out the truth

"Slot wanted Isak, the nerds wanted Ekitike". "Slot didn't want Kerkez, so he is insisting on playing him in the way he wanted to use his preferred choice". I bet it is somewhere on X already.

But then, I've never understood why we signed Isak in the first place. I don't see how a team with him and a 33 year old Salah works, and I think he's wildly overrated. I'd take the cash we spent on him back without hesitation. Ekitike is way more dynamic.

...approach of saying to Isak "Ekitike has the shirt. You have to take it from him". To me that's how you build a healthy culture at a top club. We've always said "no player is bigger..." etc. Feels like right now a couple kinda are.

I'm sure you've seen my take. I think Slot has second guessed himself a bit and also been a bit cowardly, or maybe complacent, in picking reputation over form/merit. I'm not convinced things couldn't have clicked if he hadn't just stuck with Wirtz and Ekitike and taken the big club....

In possession, continue to box midfield and use the fullbacks for width and move Salah along with Isak/Ekitike in the front two.

I’m not really sympathetic to any of the parties involved, but it kind of sucks that Ekitike started off so well, then just got sidelined for Isak and now neither of them has done shit since.

1. He’s persisting with his preferred eleven in the hope it clicks.
2. Ekitike , Wirtz and to a lesser extent Chiesa have a right to kick down the door of his office on Thursday morning.

Kerkez is a flying FB that's mostly asked to sit in a back 3
Frimpong & Bradley play RB very differently
Ekitike & Wirtz want to play in the same space
Are we playing a double pivot or a 433
Ekitike & Isak = lots of resources that don't play together
Asking Konaté to be a progressive passer is 😑
etc

So you really have to play the few who are. Ekitike has been and yet he's been sidelined. I think Jones has been pretty good, too, yet seems down the pecking order.

I'm not a sceptic in the sense that I think Isak is shit. Obviously not. I just don't think yes £120m good had am not at all convinced that he's a better player than Ekitike, despite being older.
Ekitike looks far more dynamic to me.

As much as I am an Isak sceptic, I think Slot should go:
Ekitike - Isak - Chiesa
At least for a game. Maybe Salah could do with not feeling like the weight of the world is on his shoulders at this point of his career. Players - people - don't always know what's good for them.

‘I wouldn’t play Isak’: Wayne Rooney slams Liverpool’s Swedish striker after another anonymous performance vs Manchester United | Football News
Former Manchester United star Wayne Rooney said that Liverpool’s record breaking signing Alexander Isak should be benched in favour of Hugo Ekitike. Isak was transferred to Liverpool for a British record £125 million on transfer deadline day after a summer-long saga with Newcastle United. But since arriving at Anfield, the Swedish striker has played 7 matches in all competitions and has scored just once, which was against Southampton in the League Cup.

Ekitike has been instrumental in how well we play (this is not me writing off Isak - I would do my best to get them both on the pitch more often).
To a lesser extent Curt too.

Good points, she mostly. Need to find way to keep Ekitike in the team along with Isak, so Hugo on Left is not bad option.
Only issue would be Robbo over Kerkez .. understand why everyone saying that but Robbo can not defend either.

Chiesa lights it up as does Ekitike, Gakpo and Wirtz. The insistence on selecting players who are not delivering (VVD,MS,Kerk, Kon, McAll-big part-squad) continues, it calls into question his ability to turn this squad around and build a new legacy. Feel for him but bitten off too much strategically

“Barely any players are in form, the ones who are remain confined to the bench. How many times are Federico Chiesa, Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz going to positively influence a game from the bench before the penny drops?”

We're trying to bed in too many players. We should focus on Ekitike,Wirtz and Kerkez first. Once they've settled in you integrate Isak and Frimpong as well. We also need to focus on being more compact instead of going balls out attacking.
