#F451
Great collection. I've read 1984 three times. I think I need to read F451 again. So brilliant all. Enjoy!

People obsess over 1984 because it makes them seem well-read, when it was just a 185 page book they had to read in high school. I’m constantly reminded that F451 was the superior cautionary tale

It actually was though. F451 is a lot less pointed or smart than its reputation implies

que nem 1984 😥😥

Wow this is dystopic. Easily could have been a line in F451.

Eh, between the three of them, they pretty much got it;
1984: Fascist government and unregulated media industry working together to manipulate the masses.
Brave New World: Insane tech developments that no one needs or wants.
F451: Everyone distracted by their vacant, substanceless media consumption.
I feel like we’re living in a dystopian novel so dystopian that even if Huxley, Orwell and Bradbury had collaborated on a book, the three of them together couldn’t have dreamt this shit up.

Not 8th graders. They have bravery and convictions of steel. DO NOT underestimate our youth. And some have even read Harrison Bergeron and F451. They are aware. They will protect their siblings and neighbors when no one else will.

I was totally thinking about asking them day 1 if they’d read F451 already—it seems to be falling out of favor as of late, from what my students are telling me? But this is a new college for me w very different ($$$$) demographics, so they might’ve

We know we can't stop it. If they want to do it, they'll do it. It hasn't taken too long to go from districts banning The Glass Castle from classrooms to this.

And of course they'll read, F451, but for what? Obviously, not to understand that books matter. Only that the books the state decides do.

F451 frappe fort, et Soleil Vert enchaîne avec un vertige écolo. Ces classiques dopent mon écriture et rappellent la puissance de la SF.

1984 & Fahrenheit 451
I read these 6 decades ago.
I watched the grainy b&w 1984 & the Kier Dullea F451 movies.
Never did I believe I would be in an America that parralleled.
1984 is over-cited, but nothing fits the government and its supporters blatantly lying about ICE’s murder of Renee Good when video from multiple angles show she posed no threat than “the Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.”

Season 2 of Trump’s new reality show “1984: Brave New World F451” started with a real bang.
This fake president is using the reality show format and so many people are blind to it.

This was the first post I saw this morning. I want to thank you, because…well…the rest of every feed discussed the premier episode of season 2 in Trump’s reality show “1984:Brave New World @ F451”

A truly excellent book. I didn't really "get" it until the end. I might have scoffed at the premise if I hadn't taken the journey with the character up to that point, but instead I was in awe. F451 did something to me that only the best books do. It made me want to read ALL the books. Good stuff.

I reread F451 last year as well as 1984. Very eye opening. I now want to reread Animal Farm and similar books and literature warning us about the pitfalls of authoritarianism and fascism.

the forewords of f451 has got to be the sweetest forewords ive read
I've decided on Fahrenheit 451 as my final book of the year. I have read Bradbury, but for some reason, never this one.

Usually I skip the forewords but decided not to, and I'm glad I read this one because it was lovely, and ended thus.

see most of the other ones you just listed were required for us, but not f451, and not handmaids tale (another collage reading assignment for me)-

THOUGH to be fair, it’s probably for the best i didn’t read handmaids tale in hs because that book genuinely keeps me up at night 🤡
