Lawrence O'Donnell: President Obama talked about the value of younger candidates who know who they are. Is that the way you see yourself?

James Talarico: My granddad told me our job is to love God and love neighbor. I am trying to love my neighbor through public policy.

I’m watching Empire of the Sun. Can’t work out if I’ve seen it before.

I knew it had a connection to my Granddad, Eric Flynn, because he also grew up in a Chinese POW camp, but I’d forgotten that he was actually cast in the film!
It was overwhelming to see a close up of his face at the 1h 10m mark

I’ve been wondering if you accept submissions? I have a great photo somewhere of my great granddad holding (his?) cat.

You used to have to find tokens to bribe your granddad and if you were lucky he'd give indispensable advice such as "follow the bananas"

"Great-great-great granddad was at Waterloo with the Duke of Wellington."

my granddad had 4 puntos in a row in his later life despite being someone who had quite cool cars when he was younger. Loved em. As his last deteriorated after it was discontinued he refused to replace it with something else. It finally broke irreparably & he literally died like 3 weeks later

From my mom, I learned my granddad was a big "Jesse Jackson killed MLK" guy. I have always wondered if the Rainbow Coalition era change his mind on Jackson.

Rest in power uncle, I'll always remember being 6 seeing you on the news for threatening to castrate Obama and then my granddad mentioning meeting you at Samora Machel's funeral ❤️ that's how I found out about US segregation

What up, name's Gregory Culpable... but on the streets they call me Allergen. Here in the studio working on my fat new album Christmas with Granddad. In school I learned the elements, but now I smoke tremor and slurp crude, I move different, I slither different, I made up a new one called Lithuanium

Me too, and honorably proud to claim myself so. My granddad didn’t put his life on the line in WWII to bend a knee to fascism anywhere, let alone in the US.

Earlier boat.

My dad’s gg granddad turned up on a boat escaping the czarist pogroms.

My mum’s from the massacres of Huguenots in Flanders.

Even my bloody surname is made up so the Volk could pronounce it.

After seeing that interview I can see why MAGA doesn’t want to give him air time, he must be terrifying to them. 8th generation Texan, who shares stories of wisdom from granddad, and is trying to live his faith as Jesus did. What an eloquent young man, I hope we have many more years of him.

I wouldn’t mind playing with Granddad!! 🤗😈😉😘

not an ounce of effort to find people to quiz on whether or not they want to have their granddad resurrected to converse at 2am when it goes “u up” and posts a generated image of himself in heaven while convincing the user to commit a crime

I have to say: a bowl of porridge (in my case: just rolled oats, milk and some mixed berries sprinkled in) is pretty great at breakfast.

My late granddad ate it religiously every morning and he lived to the ripe old age of 97, so...

Oh and let's not forget about the one I imported from the U.S to replace the one my sis friend had stolen from me as a kid, the only gift my granddad ever directly had picked out for me.

My granddad was an architect and his office life was very like this (so all the thirst comments are very funny to me). My mum carried on this skill – always refused to learn CAD – and whenever she submits a drawing, planners love seeing the handdrawn style.

Not very relevant but idk. Memories.
its insane that drafting as an occupation used to just involve countless huge rooms of dads in shirts and ties, scattered all over the country, leaning over tables with their asses perked up all day as their 9-5 job
