The neuropharmacologist who found wisdom in frogs This piece profiles Vittorio Erspamer, a pioneering figure in comparative biology whose work laid the groundwork for modern neuropharmacology. His research, which often involved studying bioactive compounds in amphibians and other animals, was instrumental in discovering and characterizing numerous neurotransmitters and neuropeptides, fundamentally expanding our understanding of chemical signaling in the nervous system. …

## Hyper-Resolution Calcium Oscillation Dynamics Prediction via Multi-Modal Federated Learning for Targeted Neuropharmacology
**Abstract:** This research introduces a novel framework for predicting high-resolution calcium oscillation dynamics within neuronal networks, leveraging a multi-modal federated learning approach. Dysregulation of calcium signaling is implicated in a multitude of neurological disorders, but accurately predicting spatiotemporal calcium fluctuations remains a significant challenge. Our system combines optical microscopy data with multi-electrode array (MEA) recordings and computational models, distributed across multiple research institutions, to achieve a 10x improvement in predictive accuracy compared to existing single-modality approaches.
