I hope that by the time I'm very, very old, I will have access to a robot assistant that could help me ... right before it kills me quickly when the robopocalypse kicks off.

I love "Roomba discovers that their entire kingdom is but a fraction of the world" stories but I hope Roomba doesn't resent us too much when the robopocalypse comes

Cannot stress this enough like read Robopocalypse by Daniel Wilson cuz it's probably gonna be Indigenous tech and AI that saves everyone from non-Indigenous tech and AI 🤣
But the point is, even if settlers salted the technological earth in a huff, we still have highly trained scientists AND highly skilled knowledge keepers. We are post-apocalyptic Peoples, and our survival is based in expanding, not denying care.

We revisited surprisingly scary The Gate with best-selling author Daniel H. Wilson (Robopocalypse, Robogenesis, & The Andromeda Evolution). Starring 12YO Stephen Dorff, an eventual Satanist, Kenny Powers's SIL, and a creepily sexualized teen actress, this tween horror flick really brings the SFX.
The Gate with Daniel H Wilson - Main Event
In this Main Event, we get back together with best-selling sci-fi author Daniel H. Wilson (Robopocalypse and Robogenesis and the Michael Crichton sequel The Andromeda Evolution) to revisit a staple of his childhood that was surprisingly scary today, The Gate. Starring a very young Stephen Dorff, along with an eventual Satanist, Kenny Powers's SIL, and an actress creepily sexualized, this entry in the horror-targeted-at-tweens subgenre had some serious special effects bonafides despite one's assumptions given its era. It also left Daniel impressed that he was able to withstand its scares as a child, which is all the more surprising when hearing that it was supposed to be MUCH harsher than the finished product ended up being. The Gate is presently available to stream for free in the US on Tubi, Prime, Plex, and The Roku Channel. And a brand new Vestron Steelbook Special Edition Blu-Ray was just released on May 14, 2024, exclusive to Wal-Mart: https://www.walmart.com/ip/The-Gate-Steelbook-Walmart-Exclusive-Blu-Ray-Digital-Copy/5493766087 Daniel H. Wilson can be reached via his website: https://www.danielhwilson.com/ You can follow his author page (https://www.facebook.com/OfficialDanielHWilson) on Facebook for any Daniel H. Wilson news. And keep your eyes peeled for his upcoming novel courtesy of Doubleday, titled Heliopause, which should hit shelves late in 2024 or early in 2025. What could possibly go wrong?

Well having just (re)read Daniel H. Wilson's "Robopocalypse", maybe it's time to (re)read his follow on "Robogenesis" followed by yet another (re)read of @daniel-suarez.com 's "Kill Decision".

AI models have, within hours, created more efficient wireless chips through deep learning, but it is unclear how their 'randomly shaped' designs were produced.
