I'm not changing the way I write for the sake of weak thinkers. I don't care
“As some universities and journals adopt AI-text detectors, they risk creating a feedback loop that constrains how authors express themselves. I have seen colleagues intentionally simplify their grammar or break down complex rhetorical structures to avoid arousing algorithmic suspicion.”
Why artificial intelligence detectors could penalize academic writing - Nature Human Behaviour
Writing produced using artificial intelligence is becoming more common in academia, which has prompted institutions to look for ways to detect it. Bo Hu warns that an overreliance on fixed linguistic ...

2/3 The use of either word in this context demonstrates a wilful ignorance of humanity’s past. Racist thinkers imagine that each race/culture is like a shoot that has grown from its own individual bulb.

The case…provides an illuminating example of how people who regard themselves as enlightened politicians, and even as free thinkers or radicals, drift with the tide, helpless and without convictions, flabby and powerless.

Interesting article. The billionaired think they are the master race.

"Billionaires like thinkers who see their exploitation of the weak as good and natural. Epstein funneled ~$20m a year to academic men who shared his ideology [and got] to hold forth in formal sessions at Harvard, condemning feeding and caring for the poor as if he were making a scholarly argument."

Musk and plenty of SV heavies, people from the NYT, wife of the EIC at CBS News, the owner of The Atlantic, and lots of individuals platformed in the press as great thinkers and altruistic tech leaders ended up in the Epstein Files! Curious!
Instead of "the left isn't paying enough attention to these machine gods" they're claiming to build, perhaps we should write an article about how effective altruists brand themselves "left", ask who is writing these articles, and trace their cults and sources of funding.

"Some thinkers. . . started the French Enlightenment" is 6th-grade prose from a kid who didn't do the reading.

Holy cow.

Not least because IIRC Smith’s Moral Sentiments basically develops a theory of empathy which is the new taboo for conservative thinkers

“Billionaires really like thinkers who see their exploitation of the weak as a good and natural thing”

Not to be Debbie Downer on Valentine’s Day, but this is a sobering and worthwhile read.

It delves into the mindset of the monsters we are dealing with.

You would think that smart and serious thinkers would be wise to this game, after republicans spent decades making trans rights, gun violence, the environment, vaccines etc into issues "too divisive" to disagree with them about
the problem with giving in on things that don't poll well is that as soon as the right wins on the the things that don't poll well, they move on and start lying about more popular things to manipulate public opinion, starting the cycle again.
Kevin Roberts, President of The Heritage Foundation, claims that evidence suggests a correlation between undergoing Trans Medical Care and acts of violence.

He states Heritage's public policy solution is to ban it for all ages and they're willing to work towards this goal on an incremental basis.

You can absolutely scold voters into being better, but I agree that voters follow their own logic. What I am arguing against is supposedly sophisticated political thinkers doing apologia for sitting the election out. There's no excuse for that.

FYI, Frederick Douglass predicted Trump back in 1867.

"there is a good reason why we should do away with the pardoning power in the hands of the President, that is that our government may at some time be in the hands of a bad man."

Feb 16: Voters

Why do Black folk just assume that many supporters of Trump, Reagan, Nixon, etc are racist? That doesn't seem fair. Why do 90% of Black folk vote democrat? Why aren't more Black people "free thinkers?"
