#WIC-specific
AFRICOM essentially leeches everything it uses off of either EUCOM or CENTCOM to begin with…

Honestly I’d say this empty jumble of words was generated by chat GPT, but I feel I’d be insulting GPT.

Also…the acronym WIC has a very specific and well know context within the USAF….

right, we really didn’t do formula or baby food in our pantry because your WIC covers that, and fresh produce can be purchased w snap, and diapers we had a specific diaper pantry we partnered w that also had basically every thing you’d need for an infant not covered by wic or snap.

Along similar lines, when I worked grocery retail I was instructed on what specific items were allowed for WIC. In my state, about four years ago, the only kind of bread you could get with WIC was a one-pound whole grain loaf.

Help me out:

I read a post about a type of resistance where a cashier saw women using WIC, & MADE SURE to arrange the fruit/veggies just-off the scale, so that the family could get more. She encouraged us to do the same at our jobs.

This had a specific name.

I can't find the post, or the term.

Wic especially is so bad because I’ve had so many customers show me on Wic’s own fuckin website “it says it covers these specific items”, they have those exact items, and it just won’t fuckin pay for it no matter what we do

After thinking about this, it may have been the WIC program that had a lot more specific foods, not SNAP.

I have a hard time believing these SNAP people are getting expensive hairdos. This is a supplementary food program, not welfare benefits. Mr. Schmitt is talking out of his a$$ again on things he does not know. If there are problems, then revamp to specific food groups like WIC & keep the program.

Enlisted men don’t get paid much! They HAVE to advance rank, for more pay, w/limits!
I was a Navy wife on WIC! Back then, it was “coupons” for specific items. But, my baby/child/me would not have had food, without it!
We thought we’d have an advantage being military! “Support Our Troops!” BS!

1. I have a close relative that worked for Snap in DC and It’s against the law for Trump and Congress to hold Snap Funds. 2. There is contingency money, set aside for this specific use in the Snap &Wic programs.
3. Power of our dollar on how we spend it. Don’t buy Amazon, Facebook etc!

There's also WIC, which has specific food products and quantities that it can be used for, rather than a fixed amount of money.

People who get it are supposed to talk to their social worker to get the formula brand changed if that's a problem.

People should also remember that SNAP is mostly a transfer to nonworkers—children, retirees, the unemployed, people with disabilities, etc—higher wages alone will not solve food insecurity in this country!

Good question that I don’t know the answer to. I do think WIC is state specific but even that money would still come from the federal government.
Is WIC under this umbrella to or is it separate?
So is it just that people aren’t aware SNAP is for kids, not “lazy folks?”

Some food banks also use cash donations to provide grocery cards to families who have allergies or very specific health concerns, ie babies w milk allergy who require specialized formula (not always available thru WIC) or disabled folks on restricted / special diets.
If you have it please donate cash to the food banks. $10 in their hands will feed more people than the $10 worth of canned goods you can buy for retail prices. Also check on your elders. Many of them will not admit they rely on these programs so grocery gift cards or a surprise bag of staples

Absolutely! It can be true that everyone deserves to eat and that the working poor have specific barriers to breastfeeding that people don’t acknowledge when they talk about WIC dropping formula (a real proposal) or shame recipients for using it

We also take WIC (vendor specific) and I am always thrilled to see those customers buying produce their family is visibly excited about. Many let their kids pick what they buy. One new mom said she was embarrassed today and I did my best to reassure her she was so welcome and doing the right thing.

When talking about SNAP/WIC and any other program please don't use what is or isn't happening in YOUR specific state as universal truth. Some states will step in and cover costs... Others won't.

Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Nutrition Program
WIC Vouchers are very specific...no substitutions. WIC is for pregnant people, new breast feeding parents, infants, and children under age 5.
But, Mike Johnson, go ahead and collect your paycheck for doing jack-shit.

No, WIC only covers specific food items. I got WIC when my son was little (he’s now 32) and back then we could only get eggs, peanut butter, juice, cheese, maybe milk…it was a very short list of items. I think it’s expanded since then, but it’s still specific food items, to my understanding.

No Kings protest map for the maga country of my area.
It's so fucking demoralizing to be surrounded by square miles of ignorance, apathy and cowardice.

Hi! I was sick for over a week but I finally wrote and published my piece on appropriations and this specific Tariff WIC issue which was already on my radar!

I’d love to see more programs attached to SNAP that give funds that can only be used for fresh fruits & veggies. Florida did this in the 2000s. Kinda like how WIC is for specific food items that support a nursing mom & young kids.

No government program has zero waste or abuse. That’s not something we can reasonably expect. But in general, since WIC only covers such a specific list of things, the rate of fraud is very low. There’s only so much trouble you can get into with cans of baby formula.

WIC Is Running Out Of Money, Fast
Unfortunately, with the government shutdown at the beginning of the fiscal year, WIC doesn't have its funding.

all of the claims that this administration will do anything good to help anyone should be considered as nearly ironclad proof that they will *not* be doing it, unless specific evidence conclusively shows they *already did it*.

that prescription website? wic funding? lol. lmao.
