#YYC’s
Postmedia's behaviour in Alberta has been atrocious - they've singlehandedly made YYC's water main break into a federal case, while supporting Smith's claims of "sovereignty" (🤪) for Alberta.

It's crazy how we let them run this obvious propaganda op against Canadian institutions & public sanity.

Dan Williams and the UCP have inserted themselves into #YYC’s pipeline problems.

“ One key factor is #yyc's urban sprawl & low density growth.” But the pipe was completed 1972 when urban sprawl and low density growth were well known, especially in the urban planning community.

I remember the fun we had talking about Calgarians called for controlling population growth by City.

Today #yyccc is learning about the reasons behind the Bearspaw Feedermain pipe break. One key factor is #yyc's urban sprawl & low density growth. This comes as Council looks to repeal blanket rezoning. Will Mayor @jeromyyyc.bsky.social or anyone else on council reconsider their decision now?

We're now three weeks since #yyc's first big snowfall and trying to push a stroller around this city is still a pain. This is a well-used route next to a shopping centre (North Hill Centre). #yycwalk #yyccc

A nice day to ski at YYC's Confederation Park earlier today with great grooming by Foothills Nordic; and paid online for our family pass for the season - $75, such a deal!

YYC's council is reviewing the budget this month, it is important to maintain adequate $ for active mobility. On that topic, here is a new video on how cycling infrastructure is planned to make most efficient use of $ in Montreal - this also applies to YYC: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qe5M... #yycbike

🌈Happy pride parade, everyone.🏳️‍🌈
2SLGBTQIA+ folks are significantly overrepresented in #yyc's unhoused population. Our celebration must include action. Let's build a Calgary where everyone, regardless of who they are, has a safe place to call home. #yycpride #yyccc

Got tickets to YYC's Dungeon Fest next week, found out there's an open format kitbash/painting competition, and got VERY inspired to finally make the BubbleGum Crisis diorama I've been working skills up for, for years. Expect lots of progress posts this week. #diorama #miniatures

#yyc's post secondary institutions need to be working with #yyccc to build more student and student-oriented housing.

So many opportunities for transit orientated development in close to post secondaries in ward 7. We need to move on it quickly!
Calgary post-secondary students scramble to find housing as dorms fill up
CORRECTION: A previous version of this story said the University of Calgary currently has a waitlist for residences — the waitlist was cleared this week. The story also noted last year’s waitlist at the same time was 1,000 students — it was 76. Post-secondary students are heading back to class in just a couple of […]

I have long argued (& anyone who has taken my undergrad climate change course can confirm) that municipalities can have an outsized impact on climate change adaptation and mitigation.

It's a big part of why I'm running in YYC's next election.

I love when people ask about climate at the doors!
🧵 It's said that a politician only has 2 jobs:

1) Get elected
2) Get reelected

They need your vote like you & I need oxygen. That's our POWER & nowhere are we stronger than at the municipal or city level. It just so happens that at the city level is also where #ClimateAction is most viable. #yyc

Yeahhhh compared to YYC’s they were shite. 🥺 why can’t we have nice things? We pay for them where does the money go?
August 2, 2025 at 10:19 PM
That was my thought.

I’d love to have the capital to build and open something like that, with a rooftop patio for spotters, near the threshold of one of YYC’s runways.

How about a NYC 14 St busway for YYC’s 14 St? 🤔

Is it time we stop trying to move 40,000 people by car everyday on this car dominated street in Calgary? 🤔

YYC's literal 'old boys' club'. Conjoining of BigRanch & BigOil.
Wmn were granted mbmship in '93 but didn't get access to entirety of club 'til 2000.
Definitely "old stock" 🇨🇦ns, very "pur laine".

I've been working in MH&A and with some of #yyc's most vulnerable for 30 years and I'm always in awe of the DI staff. Give her a big thanks.
