#Zaytinya
Jose Andres Group continuing free weekday lunch for Feds at China Chilcano (no longer at Jaleo, Zaytinya, or Oyamel)

(expecting a lot of folks not to get the word this week and show up disappointed)

He took me to Zaytinya the week after my adventures in Greece for a lunch full of continued discussions on history, research, and the possibilities of the future. Thank you as always for such a perfect, relaxing time— I can’t wait to see you again, 💋💋

Delicious lunch with @ellenfremedon.bsky.social courtesy of José Andrés at Zaytinya.

We tried to see the White House demolition, but they’ve barricaded off too much of the sidewalks to see from any public area.

Is anyone taking odds on how many bugs per cubic inch will be found later?

I loved (OG, DC) Zaytinya before even I knew what an outstanding human being Chef Jose is, and I love that this is happening. Feds obvs go, but also people with positive cash flow, pls also go to Zaytinya, since I can't. (might fuck around and make something from the cookbook tonight for dinner tho)

I have a DC Library card and I have five years to activate it. I sat there in Zaytinya with my wife looking across the street at the library. "Should I go in there and activate my library card? I have five years."

I'm a sucker for Zaytinya and museums so I'd add a day there. To each their own!

Had an amazing meal last night at Zaytinya. But just a warning- if you get the chefs tasting menu, don’t eat all day before. I was stuffed half way through the second course and there was so much more food to come. No pictures cause the conversation was so good.

As Haaretz noted in their analysis of how this assault on WCK might reshape Israel’s plans for Gaza, Jose Andres and WCK “has unmatched social credit in Washington.” So yes, he can and did get Biden on the phone to tell him he cannot be arming Israel while claiming to want to feed Gazans.

Students? No idea. I always just ask Leo Lampropoulos. The best places in DC I’ve been tho are Izakaya Seki, Zaytinya, and Queens English… but this is a strange sample since I only lived there for 6 months

Pro Hamas protestors banging on the windows of Zaytinya, the NYC restaurant owned by chef José Andrés, who CURRENTLY provides food aid in Gaza, is peak performative stupidity.

A colleague recommends Circa (Foggy Bottom), RPM Italian (Chinatown), Ted's Montana Grill (Crystal City), Rise Bakery (Adams Morgan), Lilit Cafe (Bethesda), and Zaytinya (Chinatown)

Yes. It’s not cheap, but the drinks are incredible. Zaytinya is also a revelation.

You know, I haven’t seen it on a menu in a while (as its own thing). Maybe not since Ray’s the Steak.

Bourbon Steak in Georgetown has a marrow custard which sounds interesting; Zaytinya has a marrow kibbeh which is great. But neither will showcase bone marrow properly!

Oddly enough cookbooks from high end but not Michelin starred restaurants can be a huge help here because really good food at scale comes from careful utilization of a limited number of components. The Zaytinya cookbook has been hugely influential in how I cook lol
