She mastered that head sweep. Always looking for a threat. My pup did that when I rescued her too. Years later, the dilly dally. Look at the tree. Look at the birds. Look at the sky. LOL.

Cool! Such pretty birds. I have a few dozen chaffinch here (miniscule by comparison!), but have yet to see one amongst them!

Pileated woodpeckers are my favorite.

if you want to send one, just let her know you're a friend of Katherine's (me) or if you're not comfortable saying that, you can just say "one of your grandkids"

she likes gardening, birds, and western movies. she's very social and would love hearing whatever you want to include!

her info below 👇

Yes. We have several Pileated Woodpecker couples on our side of Pomme de Terre Lake as well as the woodpeckers that you get. The smaller birds like to hang with the Pileated at feeders because they know predator birds won't mess with The Big Boy. Lol

Our #DrivinAroundMusic for the trip up to Chicago and #Capricon46 is the #GratefulDead just released Dave's Picks Volume 57: January 31 - February 1, 1978 at Chicago's Uptown Theatre.
The '78 Midwest winter tour represented a transition to the semi-scripted setlist syntax of the 80's and '90's.

That would explain why a 6 yr old cat I had once adopted was really & truly hateful & hard to love because he was the meanest little bugger to every living thing! The birds would dive bomb him at the cottage & he had to spend the day under the boat trailer & sneak back into the cottage after dark!

Haha yes!!!

Even when I don't use the seeds, I'll put them out for the birds or just toss into the compost after they've been sitting too many years. Unless they're edible then WE eat them. 🤭

Amazing news! Really hoping these #birds have a good rebound this year.
Three more #kakapo nests found on Pukenui/Anchor Island yesterday. Here's Konini with her two eggs. We have found nests for 26 out of the 36 adult females on the island, with more to come in the next few days. It's a big year! #conservation #kakapo2026 A

Alan & Rob’s #BirdOfTheDay theme is #Pigeons&Doves, the Alt theme is #Black&White, any bird without colors.

Here's a grayscale, dear mockingbird, met yesterday on a long walk at CREW Flint Strand Pen trails here in Bonita Springs, FL, on Brazilian pepper.

Birds of a feather. State Run Media at your service🤦🏽‍♂️
The morning after mass layoffs, The Washington Post publishes this as their lead editorial. The owner and publisher clearly have no idea why they are losing subscribers. Meanwhile they have destroyed a storied brand.

Beautiful and impressive as they are Red Kites rarely take live prey. They are actually quite small birds, albeit with an impressive wingspan. They feed almost entirely on carrion/road kill/other dead animals. I get hundreds at times around where I live, literally hundreds.

I love pied wagtails. They are such jolly little birds and they remind me of summers spent watching my kids play cricket. There is always a wagtail toddling around on the outfield. 😊
