The library says it’s Discworld time again, finishing out the Wizards books with Unseen Academicals and then getting started with Death

I have not had a chance to write much about Baba Yaga, a character from Slavic folklore, which can sometimes be depicted as evil and sometimes as good. Like Mrs Gogle from Witches Abroad, she has a tent with feet. It's worth looking into. #Pratchett 💙📚🪐📚 #Discworld #BookSky

21st read:

That Time I Got Drunk and Yeeted a Love Potion at a Werewolf (Mead Mishaps #2) by Kimberly Lemming

Lemming continues her tightly crafted & funny series. The problems are our own with a satirical twist. Recommended to anyone who enjoys Discworld & Romance.

Read about Cinderella, fairy godmothers, Mardi Gras, voodoo and narrative causality, which goes hand in hand with next post's power of belief, in my Witches Abroad post. 📚💙🪐📚 #booksky #terrypratchett #Discworld #whatilearnedfrompratchett

Reading another language day 3.
The Terry Pratchett disc world novels are aimed at ages 9 to 99 so again are very readable in a second language.
Anyone else read these not in their first language?

Our Terry Pratchett quote of this particular day, because people on the side of the people always end up disappointed

Guards series, which is a pity as Mort was what first made me love the Discworld. Still well worth the re-read though 3/3 #booksky

As I continue to read Discworld I find that Granny Weatherwax often hits on my emotional chord. She's such a brilliant character. #booksky 💙📚🪐📚 #Discworld #Pratchett

Sadly, I didn't get to write about my favourite but in Witches Abroad, Granny and the Wolf of course. The cruelty of this part is painful and haunting, and it resonates on multiple levels. #Discworld #terrypratchett 💙📚🪐📚 #booksky #whatilearnedfromterrypratchett

Latest (re)read. Sixth in the ‘city watch’ series. This is one of my favorite Discworld books. A mad ruler, using a shadowy organization to let people vanish - and a revolution brewing, where hopes for a better future meet bitter realities.

Witches Abroad, the story about stories, gives an insight into a bleak side, or maybe a Grimm side, of narrative causality through fairy tales. 💙📚🪐📚 #booksky #Discworld #Pratchett

Book 30 of 2026: Mort by Terry Pratchett. #Discworld no. 4, my first Pratchett. #ReadAloud with my teen, who is hooked! I enjoyed the story and the humor, I’ll gladly read more tho I’m kinda sorry to leave Mort behind. I think we’re doing Reaper Man next. #BookSky

I have often thought that this test is quite problematic as it assumes that animals would be bothered by a mark on their foreheads. This could be a test for self recognition, or it could be a vanity test. #Pratchett #Discworld #booksky 💙📚🪐📚

In the test an animal is marked on an area of the body which they cannot see, then the animal is put in front of a mirror. If it examines or touches the mark on its own body, it possesses visual self recognition abilities. #Discworld #Pratchett 💙📚🪐📚 #booksky

Developed by American psychologist, Gordon Gallup Jr. the mirror test is meant to determine whether an animal has the capability of visual self recognition. #Discworld #Pratchett #booksky 💙📚🪐📚

Clearing out more books to go to charity, and find almost a whole shelf of old Terry Pratchett Discworld paperbacks shelved behind the others. Nope, not getting rid of those. Even if I can no longer read them in that format due to my progressive neurological disease. Keeping Pterry's books! #Booksky

Happy Monday!

I’m listening to Terry Pratchett’s ‘Unseen Academicals’, narrated by Colin Morgan, Bill Nighy and Peter Serafinowicz.

Also very excited to discover there are new audiobook versions of Robin Hobb’s Farseer trilogy, narrated by Joe Eyre, so they’ll definitely be up next!

So we’re 86% done with Mort. Told my daughter we’re almost done. And she said, “then we’ll read the next one! Well read allllll of them!” I said, “All the death books or all the discworld books?!”

Discworld. 😳 how many of them are there again? I’m gonna be reading aloud til I’m 90! #BookSky
