Since I deconverted, it's struck me how the shouting insistence of these self-appointed judges for God actually demonstrates their lack of faith. Their belief is not in Christ's gospel, which calls followers to walk in humility and service, but in their own righteousness with the 'rule book'.

I mean nearly every townhouse on the UES east of Lex was multi-family at mid-century! They've all been converted back to single-family since then (the buildings in red). Maybe we'll repeat the process again

I have recorded my first essay! It is seven minutes and five seconds long. It took like three hours to record. I clipped a bunch of pieces together to get rid of disfluencies and noises on the recording.
The essay is about a childhood heresy that I felt, before I deconverted from Christianity.

somebody like william lane craig no doubt has bigoted views supported by his religiosity, while the healing crystal person probably doesn't. the world is probably better off with a deconverted christian as long as they don't go traipsing into some other hurtful religion.

In 2014 I was a newly deconverted evangelical (at 33) and started my secondary education with a sociology course at a community college. That course did more to move me left than anything in the two years before that (since I'd left the church) than anything I'd learned researching on my own.

There's a separate problem in deconverted neighborhoods, with the same outcome: losing two-flats. Charlie highlights this one in Englewood, where rents and property values are too low to make the operating costs pan out.

I still doubt that it's even all *that* numerous --- or long lasting --- in the US.
I know a few far right Gen-Z men, but I also know a ton of formerly far right Gen-Z men who deconverted. I also know a lot of millennials who went through a conservative phase that they then moved out of.

Yes I've read the Bible completely. I was a devout Catholic most of my life. I deconverted over the last few years. Asking hard questions and applying logic to doctrine made everything fall apart.

I lost contact with them the day Myspace went down, but to this day I'm grateful to Paul and Raven - the two people who thoughtfully debated with me in the Christianity chat for TWO YEARS while I deconverted

At least he saw the game for what it was.
I ran into an exvangelical who was convinced his experience at Bible college was enough to tell *me* that *I* was delusional for not arriving at his deconverted state 🥴
Still never learned to learn what he was talkin bout 😮💨

Random annoyance: christian songs from my younger days will still pop into my head and start playing on a loop. 10 years after I've deconverted and basically decided I'm done with all that and don't really want to think of it again.
I hope that won't be the soundtrack of my brain when I'm old...

your entire worldview & realizing everything you've done in the past including massive sacrifices or horrible things we're all in vain... Most people will just refuse to accept that.
I deconverted from strict evangelical faith when I was 20. I know what it's like to lose nearly everyone, but not

Ive deconverted several dozen former trump supporters. They hate billionaires. They hate being wage slaves living paycheck to paycheck. They hate the Dems AND the GOP.
They fully understand that no matter who's in power, everything just keeps getting worse.

1/2 A company I worked for years ago owned a network of Christian, bluegrass, country and rock stations in several states. I deconverted while I was still working there and wanted music to replace the #christian music I had listened to most of my life.

After I deconverted I had some extreme views. Now I firmly believe that people on both sides should make bridges toward each other and find common ground class-wise. I can get atheists to agree about this but Christians see it as giving too much respect, or that they lose somehow by doing this.

For a certain subset of them, I think the term "evangelical atheist" absolutely nails it. They maintain the evangelical worldview they were raised with but just deconverted from their belief in Christianity without actually deconstructing the toxic attitudes of evangelicalism.

My hot take on faith deconstruction: If you haven’t deconverted, you haven’t finished deconstructing, or you didn’t understand the assignment.

Absolutely! Even as an athiest//deconverted Christian, you can see what would be the evils in the eye of what the church would consider corruption miles away. At least according to how the book describes it
