'According to a new study published in the journal Nature, the Amazon could reach a tipping point and experience major forest dieback (where large areas of the rainforest dry out and turn into a savanna) sooner than previously thought.' […]

Team #hike in the Harz Mountains last weekend to enjoy some #snow 🏔️❄️ and show our newcomers the #forest dieback of the last years. Dead #trees are even more surreal in winter🌲☠️❄️

Another concerning positive-feedback mechanism accelerating climate breakdown--Amazon #deforestation is diminishing rainfall, increasing dieback and so on: www.newscientist.com/article/2513...
Amazon is getting drier as deforestation shuts down atmospheric rivers
The amount of rainfall in the southern Amazon basin has declined by 8 to 11 per cent since 1980, largely due to the impact of deforestation

Storms are definitely increasing. Ash dieback and wind are leading to fallen trees everywhere.

Does anyone know what’s happening to #trees? After ash dieback decimated the woods I visit, other varieties such as beech are coming down in lesser numbers. Is there a significant #climatechange impact on woodland ecosystems already?

I thought I uploaded this this afternoon but 🤷‍♀️
I just thought what a beautiful day and was envious of a plane crossing the sky above and where it was headed.

1/15/26: "...the recent warmth is tricking them into thinking it's spring. 🌿 Is this bad for plants?
Not usually. Another hard freeze could cause winter burn/dieback, esp. for trees & shrubs. BUIT rarely enough to kill a plant.
Most plants will recover, although they may require spring pruning."

For Augustine the worst case scenario would be never escaping and becoming 'The Dieback' as Gullistan planned: Gullistan's vessel, little more than a suit to traverse the planes, spreading his rot and conducting his cruelties.
Dead in all but body, walking, but gone forever.

Any thoughts on this which I posted a couple of weeks ago when it was dry at Wandlebury - the spots show more clearly - could it be the same (located along path that was closed for a while re dieback)

Walking through a Devon field of cattle or a midlands wood with ash dieback is a lot more dangerous than walking through Białowieża Forest, despite deadwood, wolves and bison. More people in nature makes UK greenspaces more dangerous too (risk of assault etc).
