We had to transfer, and the station was full of Eritrean Orthodox members commuting to their nearest church. The kids loved Odin but the moms wouldn’t let them pet him because they’re all in fancy white Sunday clothes and he is, admittedly, a bit anathema to that

Republican: We need to inspect your genitals. If they're incorrect, you'll be deported to an Eritrean prison without trial.

Dem: We should oppose this. It's un-American.

Republican: WHY ARE YOU SO OBSESSED WITH LGBTQ STUFF??

Dem:

Republican: Need to see your kid's genitals too

Oh and I forgot - anti-African racism against non-Jewish Africans, which is the closest thing to what Americans recognize, also exists and is mostly independent from all the others. People can hate Mizrahim and Beta Israel and Palestinian Arabs and Armenians and Eritrean refugees in ...

Swansea has a reputation as a bit of an end of the line destination but if I'm hungry in the centre alone I can grab Korean, Thai, Ukrainian, Sri Lankan, cockles and laverbread, an Indian, Chinese, Italian, French, Ethiopian and Eritrean, and, importantly, Lebanese at four am.
I love this city.

It hasn’t worked on my estate. Eritrean kid I see when I’m out running asked me to explain why we have both the “red cross one and the famous one?” Says her family feels very welcome in Runcorn ✊🏻

Today is the 12th anniversary of 369 Eritrean refugees who drowned in Lampedusa (Italy) exactly 12 years ago. As @meron.bsky.social wrote, one of them was 22 years old and was giving birth as she was drowning. Her body was later found with an umbilical cord attached to her baby.

People escaping the most brutal dictatorship in the world were met with the European's basically official policy of killing refugees .

This is why I can't stand so-called leftist US organizations that claim to stand against the genocide of Palestinians while working with the Eritrean government.

So a couple of things:

- this man has never done hot yoga and has no idea how strenuous it is
- my brother-in-law, who is a 1/4 Eritrean, had a beard waiver while in the military because his coarse, curly hair severely irritates his skin when it grows back. Banning beards is literally racist.
Hegseth: "Today, at my direction, the era of unprofessional appearance is over. No more beardos ... if you don't meet the male-level physical standards for combat positions, cannot pass a PT test or don't want to shave and look professional, it's time for a new position."

Ongoing violence and political instability in Eritrea have made it one of the largest refugee crises for the last several years. In the last decade, the global population of Eritrean refugees has more than doubled, with an estimated 551,000 people currently displaced.

No protests.

I'm having a good run this week and will be back in the Executive Suite. This is me 40 years ago at an Eritrean rebel medical conference. We had to stop for a while when Ethiopian MIGs attacked nearby.

The reason the attempt to stop the removal was made at the last minute is because there was very little time between the decision to send the Eritrean back to France and the date when they would be sent back. It couldn't not have been last minute.

When the British Home Office's desperate arguments for why it should be allowed to deport an Eritrean who fled forced labour are so incredibly weak, the judges don't even bother hearing the poor man's side of the story first, throwing out the government's appeal "in minutes"
The Home Office's appeal against this decision has been refused

The judges threw it out in minutes and without waiting to hear arguments from the man's lawyers, telling them "we don’t need to trouble you" after questioning the Home Office barrister in an increasingly incredulous exchange
