Su origen data de hace miles de años y la primera referencia escrita se recoge en el Mahabhárata, texto épico indio del siglo 3 a.C. 📜

It's only important because of Christian cultural hegemony in Western societies. I mean, nobody seems to be going around saying that people should have a basic familiarity with the Tao Te Ching or the Mahabharata or whatever.

Sabyasachi: ambidextrous; also another name of Arjuna(a legendary archer and the main MAIN character of Mahabharata) for being so

Any true adaptation of the Mahabharata as a sports story would have to look like this...

THANK YOU!!! Though, I'm not sure what January's window is opening onto: recalling—but ignoring the myriad moral lessons people manage to wring out of the tale from the Mahabharata of the hanging man, the mice & the honey—I'll take my joy, even mere crumbs, wherever I can whenever I can.

Ifd you see this, post an archer.

Watching the Kurukshetra series on Netflix and it's pretty cool but I'm trying to imagine watching this without knowing anything about the Mahabharata because they introduce so many guys at once.

Another review of the amazing book on global receptions of the Mahābhārata edited by Milinda Banerjee and Julian Strube. I had the pleasure and honour to contribute a chapter on Japan and China 😁

In the #Mahabharata, #Krishna's wisdom offers #hope through #selfless #action (Karma Yoga), understanding the eternal soul, #unwavering #duty (Dharma), and surrender to the divine, #transforming fear and #despair (Arjuna's crisis) into #purpose, inner peace, and #resilience by focusing on ...

101%+
and as we are at it: read not only in the genre, you lean to.

I write SF and know and love some of it but 80% of my reading is history, science and classics(Mahabharata, Nibelungenlied, Homer etc).

I am no SF writer, I am a storyteller in SF. And classics give much inspiration for stories.

#Krishna told Arjuna to shoot the arrow during the Mahabharata War. #Jesus did ask about the swords. He showed it's better to fight without weapons, but He does not condone violence. You are allowed to #defend. You are duty bound to defend that which #God #commands you to defend. You must hear Him.

Would it work if I weaved the entire 7 and a half minutes of “Cowboys and Angels” by George Michael in there?

my gf recently got me a 10 volume set of The Mahabharata, which I'm really getting into... before that I did a run of Steven King novels a few months ago, getting me back into the book habit after more than a year of no books

The same goes for the Mahabharata. I always have a question. The oldest living religion is Hinduism. Christianity is younger, Islam even younger. If they are true, then why haven't people changed in 5,000/2,000/1,000 years?

there is a really disturbing part of the Mahabharata where the lecherous stripping of one woman, Draupadi, leads to incredible shame, and eventually (tldr) tears the whole society apart

The Mahabharata war was about to begin.

Sahadeva (the greatest astrologer) told Duryodhana: "Start the war on
Amavasya (new moon). You will WIN."

Duryodhana planned everything around this date.

Krishna's entire strategy was about to collapse.
