That weird melancholy feeling where you don't know what but you know you fucked something up and no one is telling you.

We ought to talk more to people instead of whatever this is, I think.

Just watched Spinal Tap 2. Some genuine out loud laughs, mixed with a terrible sense of melancholy due to what ensued later

def agree on it being my favorite of the versions of the story, I liked the melancholy of the LN when I first read it but Rita and Keiji’s struggle to keep living in and out of the loop really hit me in this particular take

“The word ‘weltschmerz’ is much more than just ‘world-pain’ – it is a mood of weariness, sadness, or melancholy about life, rooted in an acute awareness of the world’s evil and suffering."

I've literally tried to get into it like three times and I can never get past the first four episodes. I do like the movie though. In terms of grungy melancholy sci-fi I'm more into Ghost in the Shell and Patlabor.

God I love this book so much! Josh is an exquisite writer and this book is so beautifully melancholy, one of my top ten of 2025!
Summer in the House of the Departed is a novella close to my heart. I’d love more folks to check it out and help spread the word. For fans of ghosts and grief and occult rituals and town-swallowing portals and melancholy vibes.

I saw the film once. I stumbled across it by chance and, despite its disturbing melancholy, I couldn't stop watching. The tragedy of the story was sad and yet fascinating. Madelaines story was so cruel. It was very realistic staged.

He was one of the foremost writers of nonsense verse, and helped to popularise the limerick. A lonely and melancholy figure in private, Lear’s verse was giving and joyous.

This early access action rpg with retro dreamcast aesthetics has complex character customization and an atmosphere dripping with whimsy and melancholy in equal measure. It is a lot more than just a thicc furry game, but let's be real, that is also a selling point in and of itself.

Melancholy: When the Light Forgets You
Melancholy is a sense of longing for what used to be. Late afternoon has a way of turning ordinary rooms into memory machines. The light thins out, the shadows stretch, and suddenly the air feels older than it did an hour ago. A song you haven’t heard in years slips in through a neighbor’s window, and your chest tightens like it remembers something your mind can’t name. That’s melancholy. Not a breakdown. Not a weakness. Just a human mood that can arrive quietly, sit down like it belongs there, and make everything feel both tender and heavy at once.

My own personal kryptonite is that I just gravitate towards forlorn melancholy music or I can even turn upbeat songs into something that will make me cry.

I have pretty wide-ranging tastes, but categories I enjoy include melancholy Americana, thoughtfully-constructed pop bangers, and the kind of emo-flavored pop punk that was in its heyday when I was a teenager. I don't know much R&B but have been meaning to branch out into it more.

Revisited Ira Sachs’ lovely study of intimacy and artist’s melancholy, Peter Hujar’s Day, with a lot of dust and wear and a decades-old sound system, which I can’t believe I get to say about a 35mm print produced a few months ago, and is something I hope to say again. An uncanny thing to experience.
