Yup. Especially with art, writing and music. Had a natural talent, but I coasted for years in my youth, doing a half-ass job of things, and didn't wrangle my neuro-spicy brain into some kind of focused, regular practice until decades later. It's still a struggle.
Alright, where are my gifted kids at? You were smart and you never had to study and then you went to college and suddenly had to learn a new skillset overnight, that everybody else had years to learn, or flame out spectacularly?

In my experience, talent is a *detriment* to learning.
I didn't have to practice early on so I *didn't know how*. I didn't start to learn how to practice until my 30s! (When much of my life was taken up with parenting, so I didn't have time!)

For the record, it is in fact highly distracting to people with my flavor of neuro-spicy when my inbox starts getting flooded with Football emails because the Boston and Seattle offices want to smack talk each other and felt the need to include *everyone* from both offices. 🙄

But also, yeah, the world seems to have such a misconception on what autism is and isn't. I've worked with low functioning individuals on the spectrum and I've got friends and family that are high functioning autism. I'm neuro spicy myself with ADHD lol

I have no idea what normal is. My neuro has always been spicy. Didn't find that out 'til a year and a half ago and it's been slightly earth-shattering, but also incredibly liberating.
