I am taking a break from writing chapters to do a link round. Just some things I saw, read, shared, or made me think over the last couple of weeks. And one webinar opportunity. Lies About Libraries (Part One) - Welcome to the first in a series of posts dedicated to debunking false claims used to undermine trust in libraries and attack those who work in them.

This is just for my own fun.
Look at all these articles and papers I have put together. These are real and shareable.

First, I went over the physics, evolution, neurodiveristy, history, The Doctor, politics, and numbers

Good research is being published about the effects of trauma on the brain. I appreciate this science, but it can overshadow the wonderful people who have had trauma. Let's see the positives like inner growth too. Plasticity in the brain is real, and no one is without potential. #hope #neurodiveristy

Which for a large cast is exceptionally hard to maintain. I enjoyed the wide array of neurodiveristy and inclusion for different neurologies as just a way of being. It was nice to find characters fairly similar to me simply existing and not as a super special token diversity.

I think we'll stick with our con theme even for PurCon Halloween edition.
Even though on most normal day it'd be a bit too colourful for me, I feel it wards off most of the people who'd be difficult to deal with.
And at Cons I feel like I need to preserve energy for enjoying the nice interactions

Asking a lot for an administration full of untreated neurodiveristy

Which... Thinking about it, does trump use two weeks because he assumes noone else remembers back that far?

Wait, did I miss a neurodiveristy tag? I've curiously not seen anything anout it in prople's profiles, but it has just been almost every time what they've ended up asking me about since it's in mine.

Neoliberal neurodiveristy culture sells “unmasking” as a lifestyle brand.

Share your quirks online.

Perform your rawness.

But that’s just another mask - curated, marketed, consumed.

Real unmasking isn’t performance.

It's real connection.

It’s relief.

It’s dignity.

On Beyond Atheism (episode 74) I discussed the links between humanism and autism and the impact of neurodiveristy on non-religious thought, communities and identity. It was a great discussion and exploration. Please give it a listen and check out the related series.
Humanism and autism (Beyond Atheism episode 74)
This week I was invited back on the Beyond Atheism podcast to discuss humanism, atheism and neurodiversity. We discussed whether and why neurodivergent people are more likely to be atheists, the be…

had a great time at the Divergent Minds in the Archive Workshop today at Liverpool Central Library. Some really productive conversations about barriers for neurodiversity in using or working with archives - and conversations with really lovely people as well!

I was totally ignorant about it 4 years ago, but now I’m scandalised by non ND-affirming practice. We need to be generous to those who are trying, but what about those who aren’t? After initially being puzzled, I zipped it, listened and changed. #autism #neurodiveristy #adhd

Another positive article about neurodiversity (although I do which they'd get the terminology right, neurodivergent is an individual neurodiverse is the whole population). The narrative around neurodiveristy really does seem to be changing for the better. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

Me: “Eleanor, what’s this?”
Eleanor: “Oh do you like it! In art class I was talking the whole time and when the teacher said time to finish up, I hadn’t done anything so I came up with this idea! When I turned it in, she said: is that what you did for 40 minutes?!?!”

Grateful INSAR invited a panel I suggested (first in fall 2023) on the research intersection of the neurodiveristy movement and autistic people with high support needs, at a time when the divisive, unscientific term profound autism threatens to get more entrenched. Great work by our team - powerful.
