🤓☝️: "I know you have Religious Trauma but have tried being Christian? hmmm?" (Also I just had to pick the world's slowest GIF didn't I)

Couldn't even use your pronouns or see the actual fucking elephant in the room of you talking about your religious trauma. Like c'mon. That's not just rude, it's tacky as fuck

Nah, The Binding of Isaac was an awesome story about how toxic and dangerous religious fundamentalism is, as well as how messed up someone's mind can get from trauma.

I'm surprised that it wasn't labeled as a psychological horror.

Madoka does a good job at this too esp with it's use of catholic symbolism and tropes. I'm trying to use numerology and tarot stuff as a starting point for symbolism along with Christianity since my story Eristical does cover religious trauma

i’ve spent a lot of time working through religious trauma & am generally in a good place now

but i sometimes i almost wish i could believe in the hellfire and brimstone that gave me nightmares as a child

just so some people could go there

Eh, a lot of this was just folks (understandably) being weird about religious white liberals being open about their faith.

Which I get, though people greatly overreacted to it, even accounting for trauma.

Religious trauma is real, but so is horniness born from it. Like damn how I end up liking the “deadly” sin of gluttony and being a mindless tool for women of authority to boss me around. Body worship being blasphemous. Got my fat ass bricked up.

Convinced my whole music thing is actually a Catholic guilt religious trauma response

nightow writing one of the most beautifully tragic story plots about personal morals, religious trauma, grief of losing loved ones in deliver forms and the struggle of mixed identity that is honestly such a life altering read and his ass settled on naming it after how many guns the mc has

So like, yes, but in the context of the previous game "The binding of Isaac" which was about religious trauma and childhood abuse and all sorts of knarly hard to tackle stuff, folks fully expected there to be something more to this but as far as I can tell there isn't anything deeper than the cats

anyway I reeeeally fw this. [quietly] religious trauma

Yeah I always thought tboi gets more flack then it deserves knowing it comes from a place of exploring his own religious trauma but like. Maybe don’t give your opinions on anything else.

Wanna celebrate Valentine's Day early? Know anyone who likes a tension-filled sapphic romantasy that rips its own heart out in front of you, just to perform surgery on itself last-minute?

Emergence is FREE, from TODAY 'till Feb 16! Thanks to @ech0reads.bsky.social for his amazing review!

From the comments: "Not everything goes back to your religious trauma" is one thing but "Some of the things wrong with you might be inborn and passed along to your kids no matter what you do" to a guy who just became a father is like an emotional nuclear bomb.

Everyone has their own personal preferences, but there are some things that people at least shouldn't be surprised about. Oh, Mewgenics has too much poop and religious trauma and crass humor? The Edmund McMillen game? Sure man and that last Mario game went in way too hard with the turtles
February 13, 2026 at 1:06 AM
The Binding of Isaac was about familial and religious trauma. Mewgenics is about living in the decaying remains of a nation that’s the inbred bastard child of Nazis and plantation owners

As someone familiar with Edmund's body of work, it's not out of character. I do feel like there's a lack of any actual point to it this go around, At least The Binding Of Isaac was a story about religious trauma and the fallout of a neglectful family leading to the death of a child.
February 12, 2026 at 11:26 PM
Also, talk about missing the fucking point of the game. The point was to talk about how damaging religious trauma can be to kids. And now... this? Aaargh.

I feel like you can tell she has at least 6 levels of religious trauma, based off that ceramic sheep in the background

I have such a complicated relationship with fundamentalism due to religious trauma. You'll find obvious stand-ins for the Church in the antagonists of my books, like militant worshippers of the Crimson God in Bride of the Elven Innkeeper. <1/2>

(even a joke, Temple of Satan has a similar issue) I have my own religious trauma too so I just don't have any patience for that shit
