Just look at how the modern Dune films, while still having problematic elements inherent to the books themselves, are getting more love for at the very least ATTEMPTING to do better. Let's do that with Jawas and the sandpeople.

This always bugged me. It could have been written omitting those 2 terrible things and his switch to the dark side could still be realistic. His mother's death, being a slave, the fear of his wife's impending death, the murdering of a whole clan of sandpeople, Dooku and Mace were plenty of reason.

Off the main topic, but can I just say it took me years to figure out that they were talking about Sandpeople walking over each other’s tracks so folks seeing the tracks wouldn’t know how many Sandpeople had passed through. ‘Cause if I saw a single file line of them they’d be easier to count.
