thank you! but the point of the correction is that the Mamdani account used to do full alt text on all images posted by default and has since stopped due presumably to a change in the leadership of the social media team after the election, and folks are frustrated that practice has stopped

Don’t dunk on people, the only way we catch all these from here on out is if we work at it together.

Yup.

And the "rich people will be rich again, because they understand financial literacy!" is just not true. We've seen it many times.

First, because as I've said before, there is no such thing as financial literacy. It's a lie. There's no one set of info for making money at all levels. Seriously.

someone in the replies looking up this property and realizing the price is so low because it was a meth lab is such an amazing commentary on right-wing delusion

simply perfect. chefs kiss. 10/10. no notes
If you want to do something like this, why not buy a $150k home in a small town in Italy, France, Spain, or Mexico, instead of having nine people share one bathroom after they eat at a restaurant called "Stinky's?"

Exactly. Edtech is not the solution to lack of resources and criminally low pay for teachers. No matter how much billionaires PR teams claim it is.

They are remaking public education in their own image before our very eyes.
There isn't a single problem "solved" by edtech that couldn't be fixed with smaller classes led by well-paid teachers given real academic freedom

Oh wow. This is in reply to the menswear guy's screenshot of the conservative guy fantasizing about the small town house where you can eat at Stinky's. Which I guess was more aptly named than he realized
I was right. It was a meth lab. Its on the dea's clandestine lab registry. Incident august 4th, 2004. Has probably been abandoned for the last 20 years.

Can 100% affirm it’s worth the time to pop over to TikTok & watch the whole thing (seriously watch to the end). The man’s voice at the end when he says his experience with ICE has just made him more committed to action can’t be conveyed in words.
Can confirm as others have noted that this is maximum Minnesotan rage.
This one isn’t downloadable but if you have TikTok go watch it. Well worth your time www.tiktok.com/t/ZTr4gRL7v/

The first recorded strike in history took place in Egypt some 3,200 years ago!

The ‘Strike Papyrus’ records that tomb workers of King Ramesses III downed tools over pay and conditions circa 1157 BC!

I still see people just claim this all the time as some obvious fact, that having people use their real names would reduce online vitriol and threats. Even if people have criticisms of this study of a specific German petition site, I mean the even more blatant proof is Facebook
It's an extremely common misconception that people who have verified identities or are using their "real" names are less abusive online, but it's not true. Pseudonymous and anonymous people behave less abusively than people using their "real" names: journals.plos.org/plosone/arti...

This is outrageous.

NOT Fun Fact: This is nothing new in this country.

Enslaved Black ppl had to carry documents when away from the planter. Freed Black ppl had to carry manumission (freedom) papers at all times.

Reconstruction, Black ppl had to carry proof of employment or residency.

Not new
Bovino, the man overseeing mass deportations, publicly declared that we must all have our papers on us, at all times, or we could be stopped, harassed, kidnapped, and detained, as they did with the man in this case, who is a US citizen.

The basic premise underlying this thread is that you can’t realistically be optimistic about bad things, and there are two things wrong with this.

First, the premise that it’s important to be realistic; and second, the idea that recognizing the truth leaves no room for optimism.
Of course. But you can't be optimistic about an oncoming catastrophe.
