... the al-Sharaa government is sectarian and undemocratic, but *already* they're a billion times better than the Assad regime, because there is nothing like this

(conversely, there *was* something like this in Deir-ez-zor under the SDF) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sednaya...

I hope Syrians will remember what Putin helped Assad do. Sednaya Prison has the fingerprints not just from Assad but also Putin. And now he hides in Moscow.

Assad lässt grüßen... Ist Sednaya eigentlich schon wieder eröffnet?

I mean, for the YPG it's worse than Assad, who at least cut them a temporary deal that would have lasted a little longer, but at least in the turnover got some wins like Sednaya liberated and exposed.

one of them posted selfies a few miles outside Sednaya prison while talking about how great syria under assad is

And dude like, I lived in Gaziantep for a year in 2015 as the only non Syrian for my org trust me I'm not coming at this from ignorance of scale. My *friends* were in sednaya.

💯. And drop barrel bombs and throw people in something like Sednaya prison to be tortured. The Asad security state was not like anything most can imagine.

Been trying to ascertain the location of the Ballouni Prison, an infamous detention centre in Homs through which Syria's detainees & forcibly disappeared transited through before ending up in Sednaya. Some contracted or even died of TB there. This video helped www.youtube.com/watch?v=6jAr...

We saw Assad do something like that in Sednaya. I am sure the mullahs will do something like that if their regime falls. And obviously the Russians would do the same as well.

Despite their freedom, former Sednaya prisoners struggle with psychological scars and financial difficulties, receiving little support from the state or NGOs.
