i stopped eating it before i took shahadah, but that confirmed my choice. even after i left islam it just wasn't appealing. the smell turns my stomach 🥴

So like daily prayer, the hajj, fasting during Ramadan, and saying the Shahadah, zakat is obligatory for Muslims as a basic article of faith. There's nothing nebulous or in need of interpretation. Muhammad says it straight out: give alms, or you're not a Muslim.
