McFly's 'Five Colours in her Hair' (2004) is a reworking of Jet's 'Are You Gonna Be My Girl' (2003).
Both are based on 'Lust for Life' (1997)

I was abroad from Sept 89. I feel I know it from something more recent or maybe it’s just one of my random soundalikes #forgotten80s

Also we are in the fourth or fifth year of this Kermit voice and I still can't get used to him. They found good soundalikes for Jim Henson's other muppets, but intentionally hired a Kermit that sounds nothing like Jim's most iconic character. It's a weird choice.

Worse! So much worse!

I once drew up a list of GFFA soundalikes/lookalikes, deliberately conceived and decidedly not. Good Lord was it lengthy.

And I LIKE that they tend to promote internally as opposed to hiring soundalikes. There's much more to bringing characters to life than the voice alone; it's a big job. People (myself very much included) really adore these characters. When I see Kermit, it's KERMIT. Not puppeteer and vocal artist.

Oh shit, I think I DID see that one. The Scrubs stuff and vague look/soundalikes of comedians they couldn't get seem to be the new Things lately.

I was looking through my shitpost folder and was reminded of that time when the name soundalikes memes were popular and Xenoblade 3 had also come out recently so I made a bunch of them lol

Maybe even just get two soundalikes in a recording booth together and just riff off of eachother naturally: literally ANYTHING but have AI try to “predict” what they’d say to eachother

Evidence suggests this may actually be a further watered down version of whatever the fuck The Locust and soundalikes were supposed to be. They’ll keep the white belts though.

Overall though, a pretty fucken dogshit #hottest100. In a reasonable year for music overall. A lot of songs I thought would make it didn't, all for about 45 fucking songs by Spacey Jane/Ocean Alley/soundalikes that are all interchangeable.

4200+ words on biz busts, rock ruts, disco flashbacks, post-grunge soundalikes, jangly TV jingles, beats replacing guitars, punks gone hillbilly, country ladies, mad scientists, macarenas, booty trains, tattoos, Beck rap, God crap, software that never happened, and my 150 favorite albums of 1996.
150 Best Albums of 1996
Apparently it was a common rock-critical analogy at the time to compare Music Year 1996 to Music Year 1979, one of my favorite Music Years ever. I honestly only just noticed this, almost three decades...

Bandcamp will ban AI-generated music in 2026 and prohibit AI-created soundalikes to preserve human-made music and community integrity.

I also agree- the lack of ANY voice acting- even soundalikes- is a detriment to the game. It's a LOT of reading.

It's so obnoxious. The type of person that's looking for a technically correct reason to say slurs (or soundalikes) gets no credit for being technically correct from me.

Both UK Squeeze and Make Your Mama Proud have one song that sounds much more like what the band would become, and in Squeeze's case, it was the only one they'd written before recording. Are You Ready For The Fallout is light Beatles-y power pop amidst a sea of Green Day soundalikes

What we're learning about Mike is that his brain is great at connecting soundalikes...and that most of those soundalikes are Pink Floyd. Hear what he's hearing on this week's episode! #warpedtour #punkrock #podcast

Next up we've got Ian Dury-soundalikes and sinister, nightmarish, eldritch horrors The Snowmen, because Christmas should be absolutely fucking terrifying

Current acts aren’t just “inspired” by bands from my youth anymore, they’re full-on soundalikes now. Maybe it’s deliberate or maybe they just reinvented the sound from first principles, but it’s still weird for a band to sound exactly like Rainer Maria or GBV, down to the vocals and production.
December 23, 2025 at 3:57 AM
Yes, two different soundalikes were made to cash in on a song that itself stole a Motown riff, but Paxton was kind of batshit and still riding the high of producing Alley Oop and the Monster Mash so I don't know if he ever noticed

Great band. I think I've mentioned it before but every rock band formed here in the north of Ireland since ASIWYFA has taken some degree of influence from their music, a lot of them being downright soundalikes at times.

And if an actor dies, oh well! You cast a replacement. Disney had many, MANY understudies and soundalikes for their characters and they still tripped over their dicks with Star Wars doing young Luke deepfakes and racist Darth Vader genAI. It’s not “here to stay”, it’s being crammed down our throats.
