It seems the Tidbyt backend is finally dying. There appears to be a certificate that has expired. I don't expect this to get resolved. My self-hosted server is getting the cert errors but the Tidbyt Assistant add-on is still working.

I need to flash Tronbyt on my devices

Do you have a Tidbyt?
No? Well, not many do, but I really like mine.
So much that you can get our dumb quotes on them, too!

I made my first app for the Tidbyt! It’s this open source pixel display I got years ago for the purpose of trying to make an app, so long time coming. It tracks Near Earth Objects and shows relative velocity and lunar distances from earth!

🕹️ Retro vibes, modern function.
The Tidbyt is a pixelated display that shows weather, news, and fun visuals. A stylish and geeky addition to any living room setup!

@HelloTidbyt the pi runs a script on cron, which pushes new images to the tidbyt server, which are then requested by the tidbyt and displayed. does it make sense? no. does it look nice? increasingly so.

Another "I have a job and have to deal with day games" thing: This is a Tidbyt. It is HIGHLY cusomizable. The Baseball screen is a default available app. #NotSponsored. Standings, Complete Score, News, I even have Trade Rumors RSS on it.

that's cool. I don't mind running things through the Tidbyt servers at the moment. This doesn't support the Gen2 yet, so maybe once it does I can look into it. Subscribing to it for updates!

History doesn't just repeat it rhymes. Why not buy the defunct Tidbyt? :)

It’s a Tidbyt I got it off kickstarter but you can probably just buy it now

I wish it was chargeable/cordless but I still dig it

I was irrationally excited when I saw that the Tidbyt automatically updated for the fixture announcement.

I love my Tidbyt, and now they're being acquired by some soulless cloud computing company. I don't believe for one second that they're going to keep the service up for the long haul while not selling devices any longer. This sucks.

Went to write my first app for my Tidbyt today only to discover they've decided to join Modal: tidbyt.com/blogs/tidbyt...

What a bittersweet moment. I think the world of the folks at Modal, but I'm sad to see the end of Tidbyt manufacturing.

there are plans for DIY devices (ie www.modhobbyist.com/plans/p/diy-...) but seems like a lot of work. they have an open-source hdk that’s currently not up to date… if that gets straightened out you’d be able to point it to your own URL, in which case a used tidbyt might make sense.

here, my SugarPixel tells me my cyborged ass is at 2.4x normal blood sugar (239 mg/dL), and the derivative (over 5 minutes) is -7 mg/dL. I just bolused a bunch, which will "crash" my BG into the normal range but I always want to stick the landing (0 mg/dL*min) at "unicorn" (100mg/dL) or "euglycemia"
