#TimeTravelAuthors 7: 'love'

I've posted a few snippets on that topic before, so let's cover the opposite. 😀

#TheDragonblood: This is late in the game, and I won't say too much about what they're up to.

Aimetor corrects someone on Felix's pronouns. But Felix is shapeshifted into a (female) disguise at the moment, and for some reason, the 'correct' pronouns still feel off. (1/2)

Clementine could draw a clear line from the days before AI to her present-day students. She could also distinguish how much she #loved history before its advent.

#TimeTravelAuthors “Because when you love someone, you don’t just want them to love you back — you want them to love themselves too, to take care of themselves and cherish themselves as much as…” It was at this point that Lock broke down. Lucy drew him into a hug.

Day 7: excerpt with “love”

#TimeTravelAuthors 7. I'm kind of surprised that the word "love" only appears once, and I've already shared it. It seemed appropriate to share the passage where the MC introduces his family today.

Day 7 #TimeTravelAuthors

Marty met his parents while they were attending high school, but his mother, who had no idea who Marty was, fell in love with him instead of his father. Can you imagine?

#TimeTravelAuthors Day 7

Had Sully seen how I felt on my face? Did he know about that powerful emotion knocking on my heart? That four-letter word, sometimes a noun, more often a verb. A word that scared me more than anything. A word I wouldn’t even allow myself to think, let alone say out loud.

Beryl Blue, Time Cop time travels to points in US history, so the language spoken is primarily English.

In my WWII-set suspense, A Moment After Dark, Addie has the ability to see the future & speaks fluent German, both of which come in handy when enemy spies come calling.

#TimeTravelAuthors Feb 7: Excerpt with "love".

Dave made sure to point out the wind turbines. "Love the backdrop, though we didn't need to play up the entire turning theme for me to show you my timetables."

#TimeTravelAuthors #Day5 My novel is only in English, and sometimes contains intentional misspelling, so it’s even a bad English novel.

#TheDragonblood: Felix speaks English. Aimetor speaks Nemorian, Dragon and the gods' language – which is just another name for English. Some characters speak Akewan, and the wyverns speak Wyvern, a dialect of Dragon. (1/2)

#TimeTravelAuthors 5. Joaquín speaks English and Spanish. All the Spanish is either translated or easy to figure out except for one word: güera. I've taken great pains to make sure it's ambiguous whether Angela is Latina or not. It's not my fault English doesn't have a word with the range I needed.

Day 5 #TimeTravelAuthors

There are quite a few references to Arabic in Immigrants' Journey—it's important to the plot, actually—and at least one throwaway reference to Spanish that Disneyland fans will probably recognize. (Fun fact, Historytown has a Ferris wheel! Not like in the picture, though.)

#TimeTravelAuthors Feb 5: Languages.

While technically both English and Japanese are used in my story, these are indicated via descriptions rather than the actual language in quotes.

The current set of aliens speak via telepathy, and there’s no clue if they have other spoken/written languages.

#TimeTravelAuthors 5: Languages in your story

If you change things even a few hundred years back, modern languages won't sound the same, if they even survive. When it's a few *thousand* years, there won't be familiar languages.

So it's lucky Jim took a couple linguistic courses getting his Ph.D. 😬
