Last night I needed release more than refinement. I was thinking about arriving in Como by train and a friend’s photo from Oregon. This is what resulted.

💯💯💯

Even weight balance REALLY is helpful. I’ve been relatively lucky in the crap weather up here in the Willamette Valley, mostly by either not driving or driving the cars like they are a faberge egg.

And silicon Valley even glorifies a certain type of working homeless. There are many stories of engineers living at their office and sleeping in their cars in the parking lot. Talking about taking advantage of all the perks of working at their company (like gyms with showers).
“The working homeless” is not a myth. They want us to be invisible so they don’t have to answer for what this capitalistic hellscape is doing to us all.

It’s real. We exist. We’re a growing class of people (which is why folks want to look away). And I’ll never be quiet about it.

☠️Death Valley☠️
.
If you zoom in towards the left, you can see the cars and how small they are compared to the rock formations. The scale of this place is unreal.

I have family in Lakeville and Apple Valley. They've seen people get yanked from cars at gas stations.

🧵 Sending out gratitude to all first responders today! Last night, we got stuck in a ~40 min delay on WB 118 to Simi Valley. I can't find any news stories on it, tho from what I saw on the CHP site while stuck, it sounds like an initial two-car collision that came to involve a few more cars.

Ventura county line with some real investments like antelope valley line can become a 15 min spine that helps get people out of their cars and onto fast transit trips

Fewer cars = good number go up, bad number go down

A £9 baguette in Dunkeld (wtf). A walk as the weather set in. The snow makes everything so peaceful. Thank God for thermals.

Surveys show that Americans’ trust in clergy has hit a record low. More people now pray in their cars than in churches. Perhaps inevitably, tech bros in Silicon Valley are taking the wheel econ.st/4aYol4m

me, a neoliberal kale chip eating gentrifier in Manhattan: “I enjoy taking the subway, which is safer than ever!”

Samuelsen, a Heritage New Yorker who hates neolibs (but still endorses republicans): “the subway is so dangerous!”

to match the amount of planes so what gives. Not tourism, that requires cars. So what is 5-8 planes a day with very little coming and going doing in a valley in the middle of nowhere VA?

Views of a lost work of art. I painted an outdoor scene in oils on the coarse canvas textures of an alcove connecting the rear entrance with the large ground floor rooms. The scene was what one could see a half mile away at St Patrick's Seminary, then a large plot of mostly pristine Menlo Park land.

So I won't add Derail Valley to my GOTY list because it already won last year even though I had Descent on like three of them before, but I'm just going to say that Derail Valley is proof to me that if Freelancer was released today I'd probably still be all over it and get totally obsessed with it.

Re: AI tech-bros

I worked in Silicon Valley during the Dot-Bomb collapse. I could drive 101 from San Jose to Palo Alto and only see 3 or 4 cars on the way. I know scores of families that were destroyed when their stock-option pay became worthless... but was still taxed at full value. Good times.

Derail Valley is still a fantastic game. So good it got me briefly wondering if I should put it on GOTY list again, but this is already a crowded year.

Pretty sus when this person talks about cars driven in Silicon Valley and doesn’t mention Tesla, Rivian, or Porsche.

It’s easily 100:1 Tesla:Range Rover at the local mall
