I am actually sad to have to say this since I have admired much about Disney CEO Bob Iger over the years, but what a profoundly quisling move this is by someone who knows better. It’s shameful and he has tarnished his once proud reputation.

Thanks for the interesting graphs! So what is preventing the market from reacting to negative prices by building more storage?

This new ranking by Google Scholar looks somewhat reasonable. But I have never heard of the "International Review of Economics & Finance" and the "International Journal of Finance & Economics".

On the other hand, universities save the subscription fee for the journal. But I guess that any university that publishes just one article per year will pay more than before. Or am I overlooking something?
oechssler.bsky.social
So our society journal "Experimental Economics" will now be open access. But authors or, as in my case, their universities will have to pay Article Processing Charges of about $3500 for each article published. Is that a good deal for us?

Feel like there could be some illuminating interdisciplinary work bringing together international trade economists with studies of borderline personality disorder/attention seeking traits to come up with new predictive theories about global trade.

The cool thing about the history of macro as told by macroeconomists is that, no matter what point in history you start from, after 40 years, scientific convergence is achieved

As grant money starts drying up, it's more important than ever not to waste it on paying publishers' open access "article processing fees" when we can host PDFs for free. Tom Morgan and I wrote a paper on this, forthcoming at Science and Public Policy. Accepted draft here: osf.io/preprints/os...

My main problem with reading aloud is that subjects read faster on their own than the experimenter reads aloud. And then reading aloud is just a distraction.

30 years after arriving in the US, I just resigned from Northwestern and we sold our house.

We are an American family, I became a citizen in 2014, and until recently did not expect to ever leave. But now, this no longer feels like the right place to raise a family and pursue a research career.

Can confirm that my NSF grant "How False Beliefs Form & How to Correct Them" was cancelled today because it is "not in alignment with current NSF priorities" Shocking that understanding how people are misled by false information is now a forbidden topic. Our work will continue but at a smaller scale
rebekahtromble.bsky.social
NSF has posted an “update on priorities.”

They’re canceling all “DEI and misinformation/disinformation” grants.

And the guidance on how to fulfill the longstanding, legally mandated Broadening Participation requirement is utterly incoherent.
