Today we celebrate the Feast of St Francis of Assisi, 799 years after he died on the evening of 3rd October. He continues to have a pronounced influence on Christian life, thought and practice.

Here is my lecture on Franciscan spirituality and its value today

2 chats w/ BBC abt doing interview on new ABC - 1st can I talk about “Eternal Truth” and whether this can change? 2nd is the CofE less popular with young people because it’s trying to be trendy?

Idk folks can’t we just talk about the fact that a woman is the new ABC?

Anyway, I’m not on bbc 2moro!

I like to mention it every time I get the chance but the Revised Common Lectionary is a remarkable ecumenical achievement!

Also I turned my email off for 2 hours today and finished writing a paper! I’m calmer and more productive. Maybe not opening it first thing in the morning is a good option!
karenod.bsky.social
💯 some days I shut my email down for a couple of hours (coz nothing is life and death!) and I’m amazed at how much calmer I feel!

Here’s my heads up: if you’re intending on submitting a PhD proposal with the hope of funding, in the UK that’s usually due around Christmas….

Now (not a week before the deadline) is when to start having those conversations with potential supervisors! It’s not too soon!

"Incredible Women: Chronic Pain, Credibility, and Gender Bias"

📆 Wednesday 17th Sept, 6.30pm on MS Teams

📢 Dr Eilidh Galbraith discusses the findings of her @abdndivinity.bsky.social @leverhulme.ac.uk research project with a panel of guests.

🔗 DM me for event link or see poster for details!
A poster advertising the webinar. Text reads: "Why are women's symptoms so often dismissed, misdiagnosed, or disbelieved? This webinar explores the intersection of chronic illness, gender bias, and the credibility gap in healthcare. Drawing on research from her upcoming book, Dr Eilidh Galbraith examines how structural inequalities and medical misogyny shape diagnostic practices, clinical listening, and the ethics of care. Through shared lived experience with panelists Charli Clement, author of "All tangled up in autism and chronic illness," Natalie Busari, founder of "the Nerve of my MS" and Tanya Marlow, speaker and author of "Those who Wait" (2017), this session invites participants to reflect on what it means to be heard and to be believed in a system that too often fails those in pain."

I’m pleased to announce I will be a panellist next week - Weds 17 September, 18:30 BST, for a 1 hour webinar on the reasons why women’s pain is ignored, dismissed or denied (based on Eilidh Galbraith’s research).
If you are a medic, or are a woman who knows pain, do join us for the discussion!
Speakers Eilidh Galbraith, Charli Clement, Natalie Busari and Tanya Marlow - a panel to discuss issues arising from Eilidh’s book, Incredible Women. For a copy of the Teams link, please message me.
