Sadly true. Which is why I am using it less frequently.

We have a choice, we either help the current #Labour Government to fight #Farage and #ReformUK or we let our country be lost to those ultra #Nationalistic forces which have unleashed division, chaos and hatred to the #USA.

Another great part of the PMs speech!

Calling racists, racist!

Calling out Farage and Reform for their plans to deport our friends and neighbours!

(And the addition of music makes it even better!)

Wow Starmer finally drawing a line!

"If you say or imply that people cannot be English or British because of the colour of their skin, that mixed-heritage families owe you an explanation... If you say that they should now be deported, then mark my words - we will fight you with everything we have".

Yes I'm extremely interested in the ACW. John Terraine made the Grant/Haig comparison, & that was one of the things that got me interested (living in Mississippi for six months was another)

Ffs, this is getting ridiculous now, the i breathlessly reporting Reform has a 15pt lead over Labour, and Farage is set to be the next PM. The GE is 4 bloody years away. 2 pages inside doing Farage's work about asylum seekers for him and a dig at Angela Rayner for doing nothing wrong.

"The numbers arriving so far this month have been the lowest in August since 2021" - The Times mentions in the 24th paragraph of its front-page splash something which few people in the print, broadcast and online newsrooms of the UK are aware of

I'm a big fan of Arteta, but he should never have sold Emile Smith Rowe.

Do you wonder why the media are trying to incite violence and destroy the government?

Look at what Labour are doing and you have the answer.

Workers/renters rights
Companies House changes
Land Registry changes
Proactive HMRC
CGT/Pension changes
IHT

Anything rather than pay tax?

Readers of the iPaper expressing the views of the real silent majority: those who aren’t frothing with prejudice, those who think decency and responsibility should win out, those who have genuine legitimate concerns about social division and civil unrest…
those who never seem to make the headlines.
Work at root of migrant dignity

I read lan Dunt's
impassioned piece ("Let asylum seekers work", My View, 21 August) and heartily agreed with every word.
Give people back their dignity and let them work; tap into the extraordinary resource of skilled and motivated people, desperate to find safety and a secure life and who will repay the opportunity with an enthusiasm for work which seems to be lacking in this rich entitled country. We depict ourselves via the popular press as willing participators in the malicious, self-interested bile that pours out from political animals of every stripe.
Shame on us. Turn the tide and let the world hear the voices of the large numbers of kind, compassionate and principled
people who still call themselves British.
DIANA PAYNE
MARLBOROUGH,

two things: that one bad apple shouldn't spoil the whole barrel and that we mustn't rush to condemn every migrant because of the actions of one person; and secondly, that we have forgotten what kindness is.
Britain has always been a welcoming land for those in difficulty and in the past we have encouraged those with nothing to make something of themselves, to find sanctuary, to make a life. What has happened to us?
BRIAN MOORHOUSE

As a volunteer with Herts Welcomes Refugees and teacher of English in one of the hotels, I can only say that all the people it has been my privilege to meet, just want to perfect their language skills so they can be productive members of society and pay their taxes like everyone else.
One bad egg at the Bell
Hotel does not warrant such an extreme, hateful reaction to perfectly decent individuals.

Migrants can't answer back.

They have no voice.

So they make the perfect scapegoat for the pent-up rage of the angry, self-loathing far right who can unite around this issue.

In addition it gives the media something to write about in the long summer recess.

That is what is really going on here.
