Many years ago when I was a teacher we objected to children being required to use a digital fingerprint instead of bringing lunch money, but I think that’s commonplace now.

Well, as a retired teacher, I thought teens hacking their own school website (sometimes happens apparently) is really only the 2020s equivalent of triggering the school bell to go off at 2pm so you can go home early. There is no unhackable website. We need to remember this in policy making.

And Starmer says he wants AI to take over school record keeping so teachers spend longer in the classroom. Laughable, really. It’s becoming obvious that there are some records that shouldn’t be kept on the www and information about children is a no-brainer in this respect.

Which is why this way of administering and funding schooling is a bad idea. Of course not *all* academies and MATs do things like this. But the system is wide open for those CEOs/business managers etc with such ideas.

Agreed. Teacher Tapp isn’t an official researcher. They ask leading qs to a small % of teachers. Not generalisable to the profession as a whole. But oddly they’re treated as credible researchers by some, eg in this official-seeming (not peer-rev) article 🤷‍♀️
