BREAKING: New York Governor Kathy Hochul is set to sign an executive order allowing pharmacists to prescribe and administer Covid-19 vaccines to anyone who requests them, regardless of age or underlying conditions.
VACCINES FOR ALL: Gov. Kathy Hochul is set to sign an executive order allowing pharmacists to prescribe and administer Covid-19 vaccines to New Yorkers who request them, according to plans shared exclusively with Playbook. The Democrat’s executive order will mirror actions taken by other blue state governors this week to protect access to the latest Covid vaccine.

The Food and Drug Administration has only granted limited approval of the jab for older adults and individuals considered to be high-risk. That’s prompted Democratic leaders to create their own vaccine guidance and explore ways they can legally protect access to the shot for everyone.

“By signing this EO, Governor Hochul is making it clear that when Washington Republicans play politics with public health, New Yorkers will still be able to make their own health care decisions and get the care they need from trusted providers in their community,” Hochul spokesperson Kara Cumoletti said in a statement to POLITICO.

This morning, POLITICO Pro reported that the Hochul administration is reviewing potential solutions to the Trump administration’s efforts to restrict vaccine access. However, a long-term fix may require legislative changes by lawmakers either through a special session, or when they return to the state Capitol in January.

“This temporary order will ensure seamless access while the Governor works with the Legislature on a long-term solution to safeguard preventive care and vaccines,” Cumoletti added. — Katelyn Cordero

If you haven’t already signed the letter I’m sorry of these brave employees, many of whom experienced the horrors of #Katrina, and swore to never allow it to happen again, please do so. They have put their careers on the line in order to try to keep us from experiencing another disaster like it. 2/?

Your p1 on the app, “too news” is about birthday freebies. The horrible bill is about four items down after a click on the ribbon. Not all the 518 is on bluesky. We need a real sense of what’s happening from our media. Thank you.

Do they really think they can scare us with the word “socialist” when they are literally sending out men in masks with no warrants and no badges to disappear people off American streets?

I know what I’m scared of, and it’s not a socialist.

Not an original point but worth saying again - there is not a single element in this picture that identifies any of these folks as law enforcement agents. No badges, no uniforms, no vests. Out of context it just looks like a bunch of random guys are kidnapping a mayoral candidate.

Every major Dem politician needs to realize that, in this environment, they can schedule a "speech to the nation," like Newsom did, and get tons of media coverage.

Just do it.

We’ve modernized legacy government systems. We know what it takes. DOGE’s plan to migrate SSA’s COBOL systems without understanding is a disaster waiting to happen.

Here’s why DOGE will fail — and why it matters.

The final honor guard for Pope Francis included migrants, prisoners, transgender people, the homeless and others selected by the Vicariate of Rome as a symbol of the late pope’s mission of inclusion and outreach.

“That they should be the ones to welcome Pope Francis’s coffin in the basilica is because these people are those who represented the focus of his mission,” said Father Giulio Albanese, head of missionary cooperation and communications for the Vicariate of Rome. “They are those who live on the peripheries, geographical and existential peripheries.”
