This seems like a good time to remind everyone that Donald Trump’s first appearance in the New York Times was when the Nixon Justice Dept. sued him and his father for refusing to rent apartments to black people.

I know not everyone is who they thought they would be under a fascist, authoritarian regime. That's okay. But it's time to do more than react and post about it. It's time to get organized—including mapping or creating lines of support and defense in your community.
Mapping Community Defense and Care in Our Neighborhoods
This worksheet can help us prepare for Trump's military interventions at the neighborhood level.

I don’t think I saw Snake Eyes. I saw one of the GI Joe movies and noped out after that. She was almost all I liked about The Babysitter though, and yeah, the Scream 6 cameo was great. Who wouldn’t want to get killed in a Scream opener?

I’d probably trade in Eenie Meanie for Guns Akimbo there, because I think it’s the role that covers the most ground emotionally. She’s great in Guns Akimbo though too.

I can see that. Ready or Not was the one for me. Her charisma and the quality of her performance in that was one of those great surprises that you get once in a while as a movie fan.

This workshop will initiate with people from Mexico, Latin America and Europe to strengthen the ties of stop motion and collaboration and, in exchange, education will be provided for free for one Mexican / Latinamerican student for the first ten years also.

Guillermo del Toro, Netflix, and Gobelins have teamed to open a stop-motion studio in Paris. The endeavor shares a kindred spirit with Mexico's El Taller del Chucho, also co-founded by del Toro, and will honor stop-motion legend Mark Gustafson.

After seeing the two movies for 30 something years, I’m watching this Aliens doc and just realizing how similar Ripley and Reese are. In both films they’re the characters who know the enemy and know what they’re actually up against, while everyone else is unable to deal, basically.

"Samara Weaving going John Wick on silent, post-apocalyptic cultists in the forest" is either going to hook you or repel you. It hooked me, once I learned to appreciate it for what it is. #Letterboxd #FilmSky #MovieSky
A ★★★★½ review of Azrael (2024)
Modern silent movies are a tricky sell. Since spoken dialogue has been the standard in movies for almost a century now, silent movies now feel like a gimmick. A movie that chooses not to have dialogue...

Feels important to have seen both Zack Polanski speaking so bluntly and positively on trans rights and then to see this. Shameful how rare this is from supposedly progressive politicians.

UNTIL IT’S DONE, Ep. 4: Sylvia Rivera

In the 1970s, queer New Yorkers had been pushed to the margins of NYC. Our trans neighbors faced immense cruelty. But in Sylvia Rivera, they found a champion.

As we combat Trump’s politics of darkness, her legacy can light the path forward.

9 out of 10 US students -- roughly 50 million children -- attend public schools.

Despite RW efforts to frame their efforts as for parents ("parents' rights," "choice"), efforts to defund, deform. amd debilitate public schools is a broadscale attack on children and future generations.
Five Ways the Department of Education Is Upending Public Schools
