Just a reminder that Banned Books Week isn’t about selling more copies of 1984. It’s about keeping authors and teachers and librarians safe and making sure all of us have the freedom to read widely. www.publishersweekly.com/pw/by-topic/...

We’re currently staying at a hotel where the Halloween decorations that say “Enter if you dare!” also double as actual bits of legal advice.

Trump and Stephen Miller have relied on an army of MAGA "influencers" widely disseminating a fraudulent picture of Portland in chaos, to bolster the case for deploying military.

NYT has a good new piece on this. But it made several missteps worth highlighting. 2/

Three friends and I are visiting Hill Farmstead Brewing in Vermont, widely considered the best brewery in the world and pretty much a bucket list pilgrimage for beer geeks. 🤓🍻

Dear Maine,

Your state is very pretty in the fall, but what’s the deal with all of the toll roads everywhere?!

NYT: A Campaign to 'Bring Back Bullying'

On social media, some are arguing that bullying deserves a second look. Trolling or not, the push seems to reflect a general turn away from sensitivity.

Hopefully the whole Bari Weiss thing and Ezra Klein thing starts waking people up to the fact that corporate media is mostly populated with mediocre people who have made millions and gained unbelievable influence because they threaten nothing and tell wealthy people exactly what they want to hear.

I’m tempted to dunk, but ok, let’s engage seriously.

Putting Japanese-Americans in concentration camps was a fascist activity.

(And I think that if you were Japanese-American at the time, you were experiencing the US as a fascist country.)

Does that mean the US was fascist?

Wrong question.

So I guess the US was also a fascist country when FDR was putting Japanese Americans in internment camps, right?

No warrants, no probable cause, detaining citizens. Zip tying children, using flash bangs, repelling through people’s windows and destroying their homes at night.

This Administration is lawless and abhorrent to our Constitution.

We are the frogs in the boiling pot.

This is a level of pettiness I hope to reach one day.

my wife is a Cal fan and apparently this week they’re putting a “59” on their football helmets to honor the 59 Nobel laureates tied to Cal in order to flex on Duke

this is maybe my favorite dunk anyone has ever done on Duke
