Well, tone of the ttrpg writing/designing contract gigs I was on just went up in smoke for reasons outside of my control. So, yeah if anyone has leads on a full time job; HMU in DM's?

In the meantime throwing means of support out. Again. JFC

I'm going to be honest it is unpleasant to work in the discipline within the games industry that people seem to have especially-reserved venom for. Nobody seems really intent on calling out, eg, video game sountracks they think are middling as if it's really important to yell about.

It’s National Author’s Day. A lot of people say these words. “I could write a book. Anyone can do that.” And yet, it’s only a tiny percentage who actually complete one.
Here’s to the authors. We need creativity/art/escape more than ever.
Well done you! You are appreciated.🥂❤️

there are probably a number of people who are pro-union but quiet about it on written platforms in an attempt to mitigate retaliatory behavior from paranoid employers. pic unrelated
BREAKING: Yesterday Grand Theft Auto VI maker Rockstar Games fired dozens of people, all of whom were involved in union efforts. A British union calls it "blatant and ruthless" union-busting. Take-Two Interactive says it was due to misconduct.

Here's the scoop: www.bloomberg.com/news/article...
‘Grand Theft Auto’ Studio Accused of Union Busting After Firings
Union says 30 and 40 people were terminated. Rockstar Games’ parent company cites ‘gross misconduct’

I have a scarier one of dressing like a Silicon Valley web3 founder who played a game over the weekend, which the team must implement the mechanics of without breaking copyright laws (unintentionally) (it's so fucking cold I have the Steve Jobs turtleneck)
I'm so, so grateful for the organizers of game jams and monthly challenges for creatives. It genuinely is so nice just being able to create again with people, and seeing themes where I'm like, "Oh I MUST submit something" folks my heart with so much joy anyways can you tell I'm excited 4 DiNoWriMo

It’s here! ’The Prince of All Rats’, Fallen London‘s Exceptional Story for November, was written by yours truly. I hope you enjoy the seduction of our self-styled prince!
"May I?" he asks, and he holds out a paw, his claws beckoning. He kisses the back of your hand.

The self-declared Prince of All Rats has the manners, bearing, and ambition to rule – and a personal interest in your acquaintance. Will you help the Fifth City to accept his claim?

Tip- if you’re not connected to your local community Volunteer! Mutual Aid and support makes a difference in your quality of life and provides a social safety net. Especially when you are most vulnerable.
The next few years are going to be difficult. Those without connection will suffer the most.
Create in community, keep sharing that joy, but also have the proper safeguards because people can be shitty and steal ideas 🫠
There's a couple of developers I know who have NDAs on their personal projects—it's because of the faith they have on the games, and exclusivity when it comes to announcements can grow your chances of landing a spot in festivals
I find a ton of joy in seeing people's ideas for dream projects... But also, there's so many way to make them come to fruition and please, please, PLEASE work on your ideas. Make them happen! Also, hot take, but remember that it's okay to keep some of them private/under NDA

If someone posts on LinkedIn that they are looking for work, that does not mean they agree to become a headline for an article featuring an incredibly traumatic moment. So tired of seeing callous behavior from media.
Before I worked as a narrative designer, I covered news as a contributor for various outlets. Even then, it baffles me whenever studio closures and layoffs prompt journalists to post articles with little to no fact checking or regard to the developers affected by the events
Always keeping an eye open for grants and funding for you! But yeah, even with experience and time even making the playable is an insane amount of work.
