it's time for journos to start asking Johnson meta questions

"Speaker, on 5 occasions last week you said 'I haven't seen it' when asked about news events w/big implications for public policy. Do you ever read the news, and do you agree it's problematic for the Speaker to be so woefully uninformed?"

It's not in this article but the government asserts that the sandwich was thrown at "point blank range", which implies subway sandwiches have defined effective weapon ranges of varying lethality, and I would like to see the government's chart of these ranges.

Even though Cheeto is dragging his feet and slowing down the roll-out of funding, the Dems made progress. This is significant.

Progress is incremental, and the fight goes on!

🤸 Yay!

Baby Jessica fell in that well on 10/14, rescued on 10/16 then Black Monday happened on 10/19 and then the Twins won the World Series 10/25 and the 24 hour cable tv news hell was invented. 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿

This is why I’m thankful for people like @rachelgilmore.bsky.social doing the good work.

We cannot take journalism for granted.
Every single journalist with expertise in extremism I know has been fired or their publication has folded.

Not a coincidence, of course. Grateful for their work, but unfortunately for almost all of us, this work will now have to be the side hustle.

Mike Johnson: I have no idea. I have not seen those

Teen Vogue took young people seriously. It's impossible to overstate how important, how rare, and how profoundly needed that is.
Profoundly disappointed to hear you have laid off so many writers covering political issues. I was just yesterday talking about how amazing Teen Vogue has been the last few years.

I see that CBS chose not to air this part. It probably explains much of what they did decide to air.
Transphobia, like the patriarchy, hurts everyone
Citing a Trump order about “restoring biological truth,” the VA is making it more difficult for male veterans with breast cancer to get their care covered by the government.

The disease is deadlier than for women and “notably higher among veterans,” research shows.

Citing Trump Order on “Biological Truth,” VA Makes It Harder for Male Veterans With Breast Cancer to Get Coverage
A Department of Veterans Affairs memo obtained by ProPublica erects new roadblocks to care for veterans with the rare but deadly cancer. The agency cites no new science but relies on an executive orde...

Speaking on behalf of the over 60 set, I can assure you it did take a lot of planning. You probably deserved it like calling her ma’am or something
The leader of the largest denomination (the Pope) has called out ICE.

You bias and lack of knowledge is showing
You also said they were attending churches governing by the religious right. This is false.

Several denominations have issued statements condemning ICE. Members of the clergy have been shot and/detained for protesting ICE.
It would be nice to hear more about them from the media whose job it is to cover the events of the day

I am once again asking people to understand that the religious left exists. The right-wingers running the government do not encompass the entirety of American religiosity, let alone American Christianity.
So I have a question. Are there any people out there who actually have a strong RELIGIOUS objection to all the stuff ICE is doing now? Not a philosophical one or a moral one, but something akin to the "deeply held religious beliefs" cited to avoid making cakes or websites.
Does this guy know we wouldn’t have Star Trek at all (not to mention the reruns that sustained my friends and me in the 1970s) if it weren’t for a glass ceiling shattering woman?

Yes, there are places you can hang out where Nazis are not welcome. If you think it’s unfair that Nazis are not welcome then, congrats, you’re also an unwelcome Nazi.
