When you get your woman card, they make you flip a coin. Heads they don’t like you because you don’t know enough, tails they don’t like you because you know too much. The results of the coin flip are orthogonal to how much or little you know.
Saying "um, ah, well..." for thirty seconds and then changing the subject has been the literal policy of the united states as regards the defense of Taiwan for decades. The whole point is to avoid giving a straight answer. If you want to critique on FP at least read a Wikipedia first.
AOC’s Munich Stumble Is a Warning to the Left
It’s time for progressives to get more sophisticated about national security and foreign policy.

BREAKING: The Department of Education has ended its directive that attempted to restrict diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in schools nationwide.

This is a victory for academic freedom and education equity.

Worried? Angry? Overwhelmed? Running on fumes? Yeah, me too.

The enneagram won’t Abolish ICE or keep our neighbors safe, but it does give us some ways to be strong, flexible, and resilient so we can keep doing for the hard work.

I wish I could tell you my wfh set up is a sunny plant-filled breakfast nook with Dave Brubeck playing and that the only reason I am working on the couch with two lap desks while The Blacklist plays in the corner is because a plumber is coming over.

But we all know that would be a lie

I cried over the NYT essay during breakfast. Got mad about people being ignorant about religion and politics as I finished my coffee. Time for a vibe shift.

It is very very very difficult to stand out from the crowd of people writing about What It’s Like In Minnesota Right Now. We are a hyper-literate people and we never actually stop talking.

This piece. about the terror and the joy, stands out:

the overseer of project 2025 is telling you out loud that every inch you cede on trans rights is part of the plan to create a white christian fascist state
Kevin Roberts, President of The Heritage Foundation, claims that evidence suggests a correlation between undergoing Trans Medical Care and acts of violence.

He states Heritage's public policy solution is to ban it for all ages and they're willing to work towards this goal on an incremental basis.

A lot of discussion about faith and politics, and as someone who regularly attends church but am not quite sure what I actually believe, my general feeling is that Democrats need leaders who can articulate their moral clarity about why they’re running and where this country needs to go.

Crowdsourcing ideas for the script a machine will write.

Ian The Filmmaker should just change his name to Lucas Spielberg and start standing win movies announcing “l made that!” It’s more dignified.
AI filmmaking is completely unserious.

You've got people with $30k begging the internet for ideas by next week because they have nothing of their own to say, it's just slop for the sake of slop. Embarrassing state of affairs.

I signed up to be an election judge a few months ago and my partner as already requested Election Day off to be on hand for whatever organizing is needed.

We can treat this like a football game where we are just observers making color commentary and Monday morning quarterbacks

OR
Spreading fear (even well-intentioned) is a force multiplier. (As @normcharlatan.bsky.social notes, even a metastasized ICE lacks manpower to do this at scale.) Anyway, in Minnesota, begin organizing to help any vulnerable citizen absentee vote; state makes it easy to monitor when ballot received.
One of my biggest fears about the midterms is that ICE could flood the polls with agents who perform Kavanaugh Stops on every non-white person before they get a chance to cast a ballot, then detain them until voting is over. Which is not far-fetched at this point. www.huffpost.com/entry/ice-po...

HELLO I WAS A QUEER TEEN IN THE 1990s AND THE ARGUMENTS AGAINST SOCIAL TRANSITION NOW ARE INDISTINGUISHABLE FROM THE ARGUMENTS AGAINST "LETTING" US BE (at the time, for me) GAY OR LESBIAN THEN.

They all rest on the belief that it's inherently better to be straight (then)/cis (now) and that's BS.
Hilary Cass here arguing for children to be prevented from being known by a preferred name or getting a haircut in case it encourages them to continue later in life to transition.

Hilary Cass acts like gender variant children should have the transness hazed out of them.
