This season is heavy for a lot of us. Caring takes energy, and exhaustion doesn’t mean you’ve stopped caring. I wrote this as a permission slip to rest without giving up what matters. You’re not alone here.

Brooks should be driven out of public life. The fact that he knew there were photographs of himself with Epstein and he didn't disclose that while also telling people that they should move on is just straight up unethical.

Glad Rolling Stone published this, especially given the loud silence from the rest of the media on this grim watershed moment in US political history.

Bari Weiss learned the same thing as Kirk, Riley Gaines, David Brooks and every Faux Noise pundit:

Selling your soul to be a mouthpeice for hateful billionaire assholes is a very lucrative grift.

Worked great for Kirk, until it suddenly didn't.

I was on FB (I know, I know) watching a local news story about a recent anti-ICE protest. In the comments (I KNOW) someone said “My pastor was there!” The first comment under that was “Don’t tell me. He’s probably for gay marriage, too.”

I’m convinced the stress and constant annoyance of living in an economy where every corporation is constantly trying to screw you over is a big part of why people are unhappy with the economy, the government and status quo in general.

"Suck it up, raise your game, success isn't a birthright" is PRECISELY what untold generations of parents have told their children when the system was arrayed against them in the cruelest and most horrific of ways.

Good god, Douthat. Fuck you.

Good lord. Anyone who has ever spent one moment learning about the survival skills that members of marginalized communities have always passed on to their children knows that Douthat's claim here is the exact opposite of the truth.
If you think the system doesn't seem interested in rewarding white guys at all that seems to be an issue of your media diet and not a reflection of reality

Good thing there’s a blueprint for how to succeed in the face of institutional discrimination: work twice as hard, be twice as qualified and learn how to blend in with the dominant culture.

Good luck, boys!
Guys, victimhood culture is alpha now

I see posts cc-ing Newsom on this with the hope of shaming him. But Gavs will actually LOVE this endorsement. Bipartisanship that’s 100% rightwing? Man, that’s his sweet spot. He’s gonna celebrate with extra hair gel tonight!

I have been harping about this since the occupation started.
The Bundy occupation at Malheur in early 2016 (and the lack of consequences they faced for it) was a sign of what was to come. Right wing white anti-government vigilantes cast as “patriots.”
NEW: Tina Peters is rejecting a J6er's call to storm a Colorado prison and free her.

Peters is distancing herself from the jailbreak scheme and violent actions after allies and her attorney talked about using force or violence to free her and punish those keeping her in prison.

After ICE did this in Illinois, the Secretary of State revoked the plates, sent a cease and desist to ICE, threatened to suspend rental car licenses for allowing ICE to swap plates and set up a tip hotline to report plate tampering.

MN deserves the same action.

This thread!
I hadn't given much thought to the actual philosophy behind the "empathy is bad, actually" movement, because the people espousing it are so transparently anti-human that I never thought of it as having more depth than wolves having the philosophy "Sheep are tasty".

But I realized it matters to AI.
