Stephen Colbert aired an old interview with Diane Keaton from his Comedy Central show. Find the clip, was both laughing and tearing up watching it.

This is exactly right. A lot of older celebrities die and you think, “Great life/career.” This is one of those “Nah, can’t be” ones.

Not sure why this one is such a shock to me. It’s unclear from the report whether she’d been ill. If she was I didn’t know it. For me, I think, it’s that Keaton was so alive, exuberant, so crackling with energy even fairly far into old age that it somehow doesn’t seem to fit. So many iconic roles.

Terribly sad news about one of the greats. Diane Keaton has died at 79.

You’ve gotta be kidding me.

This WaPo editorial presents a misleading revisionist history of Special Counsel Jack Smith’s criminal cases against Trump.

Then it has the gall to compare that to Trump’s overt targeting of his perceived enemies.

Really embarrassing stuff.
But the mere fact that a legal tool might be available does not mean it should be used. The
current rage over Grassley's revelation shows why. Smith showed little restraint in his pursuit of a former president. He charged Trump for official acts he took as president. He sought a gag order to limit Trump's ability to criticize the prosecution. He tried to accelerate the case to try a leading presidential candidate before the 2024 election.

I spent more than a decade at The Post. It was good to me and I was proud to work there. I’ve largely refrained from being critical since I left. But this framing of the special counsel probe is embarrassing and flatly wrong. Stunning, but not. www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/202...

I love how Mike Johnson, the Speaker of the House and #2 in line for the presidency, is always like, “What? News?! I never read or hear anything that happens in the world, anywhere. I’m totally offline. What even is ‘social media’? They play news all day on TV!? Wow! That’s a surprise!”

Q: Do you agree that the mayor of Chicago and governor of Illinois should be in prison?

MIKE JOHNSON: Should they be in prison? I'm not the attorney general. I'm not following the day to day on that

Do CBS News executives understand that MAGA will not be in power forever? I genuinely think this is lost on a lot of people. They've gotten scammed by bad actors into believing Trump's 2024 win represented something seismic and even permanent. I predict they'll look back on this as a serious error.
